Yoplait Gives You Sweet Treats with Less Calories! It’s More than Just a Yogurt!
I love Yoplait Yogurt. It is my favorite. When it’s on sale, I stock up– like buying 3 of every flavor and more of my favorites. Yoplait got wind of my “love affair” with their product and asked me to particpate in their “Swap Team”.
I got invited to an event at the SLS Hotel where we offered all kinds of nibbles but also talked with stylist Jeannie Mai, Allison Sweeney (actor on Days of Our Lives & host on World’s Biggest Loser) and nutritionist Christina Meyer-Jax! I had interviewed Jeannie & Christina for a video on the Two Week Tune-up where you eat substitute yogurts for snacks and at least one meal and you will lose weight but still be healthy and not feel deprived.
Here are the Yoplait flavors with my favorites italicized.
Banana Cream Pie
Black Forest Cake
Boston Cream Pie
Key Lime Pie
Lemon Cream Pie
Pineapple Upside Down Cake
Red Velvet Cake
Strawberries ‘N Bananas
Strawberry Orange Sunrise
Triple Berry Torte
Very Vanilla ** this one makes a great neutral base of anything
White Chocolate Strawberry
The point of the swap is to eat healthier by swapping out fattening snacks, fast food and desserts for yogurt and yogurt-based treats. This is so easy and once you get the hang of it, it’s super easy.
Here’s a couple of recipes from the Yoplait site Recipe page
2 containers (6 oz each) Yoplait® Thick & Creamy French vanilla yogurt
2 tablespoons semisweet chocolate chips
2 teaspoons fat-free half-and-half
1. Spoon 1 container yogurt into each of two 6-oz brulee dishes or small custard cups.
2. Place chocolate chips and half-and-half in small microwavable bowl. Microwave uncovered on High 15 to 20 seconds; stir until smooth. Spread over top of each dish of yogurt in thin layer.
3. Refrigerate brulees until chocolate hardens, about 15 minutes. Top with raspberries.
2 containers (6 oz each) Yoplait® Light Fat Free apple turnover yogurt
1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
1 cup chopped apple
Apple pie spice
1. In blender, place yogurt, applesauce and chopped apple. Cover; blend on medium speed until smooth.
2. Pour into 2 glasses; top with apple pie spice and apple slice
My own tweaks on recipes or meals.
I love to have yogurt for breakfast — particularly the fruit flavors. I will mix in fresh fruit, chopped walnuts and some healthy granola-type cereal (usually a natural brand). Today I had Lemon Meringue Pie yogurt with some chopped walnuts, chopped pear (1/4 pear) and a tablespoon of sesame seeds (good source of calcium, omega 6, magnesium, phosphorus and potassium).
Another treat straight out of the frig is to not skip dessert but swap it out for one of the incredible dessert flavors that Yoplait Light has! My favorites are in order of preference:
Pineapple UpsideDown Cake; Black Forest Cake, Red Velvet Cake (great for breakfast too), and Raspberry Cheesecake. The great part is that each container is about 100 calories. Get the really great flavor, a source of calcium and save calories too.
My swap tip is to try plain yogurt instead of mayo or sour cream in dips, salad dressing or topping for baked potato. There are ways to work in plain yogurt when using cream cheese to thin it out, add more calcium and reduce the fat load. It also makes the cream cheese easier to spread and last a lot longer as well. Perfect on bagels and great as a dip for veggies or to pair it with a bruschetta.
Disclosure: I have not been paid for this post. However I did get invited to an event where there was food and beverages. I also got a case pack of Lemon Meringue yogurt to use as a test drive. (Considering how many yogurts I had in the frig already, it was a sudden bonanza).
