Thanksgiving is an interesting time of year. We get into a frenzy of family and feasting and then we jump right into the insanity of Black Friday– which this year we might as well express some thanks that people are going to be shopping and that some stores have started their sales more than a week early.
However the important point of this holiday was/is to give thanks for all that we have in our lives- no matter how small it might seem, there is something to be grateful for in our lives.

While you might be alone or maybe in physical or emotional pain, there is a way to work through this and gain some perspective from it. Look at those who are around you — friends, family and acquaintances who have been standing by you. Even if they don’t seem like or your life seems to hold no future or you have lost your house/job/significant other/car– whatever it is that you have lost this year– you have something. You have yourself and there are others who do care.
If you have your health that’s important. If you have the ability to read this, you have a computer and have the opportunity to reach out to others in places that you have never been to or perhaps even heard of. Know that all who watch this feel a gratitude for what they have and perhaps if your house burnt down in the fires this summer or was torn down by the hurricanes, floods or tornadoes, that there are people out there who do care about you and want to help. Just ask. Find the gratitude in your heart and you will find what you seek.
This might sound kind of soppy but it comes from someone who has been through a lot this year and for years past.
