Mitch Stone is one of the hair styling world’s most respected and talented citizens. His work is also informed by a multitude of passions and avocations that include photography, writing, surfing, and environmental activism.

Stone established himself among the fashion elite of New York City in only three years. He was hired for fashion shoots by prestigious photographers like Herb Ritts, Albert Watson, Arthur Elgort and Peter Arnell plus styling runway shows for designers including Armani, Cynthia Rowley, Adrienne Vittadini and Patricia Fields. His editorial work has appeared in Elle, Vogue, Vanity Fair, InStyle, Rolling Stone and countless other glossies. He has also worked on major advertising campaigns for Redken, Victoria’s Secret, Ray Ban, Pantene, Levi’s and many more.

Happily settled back in Southern California, Stone has a celebrity clientele that relies on him for film, television and red carpet appearances. His client list includes: Kim Basinger, Kristin Davis, Jennifer Lopez, Kyra Sedgwick, Brooke Burke, Denise Richards and Helena Bonham Carter. He is also the go to groomer for leading Hollywood men including George Clooney, Ewan MacGregor, Al Pacino and many more.

Stone brings his lengthy experience working with models and actors to his about to be launched line of styling products, the first to be infused with a proprietary vitamin complex known as VCompS. He has always considered it his job not only to make his clients look good, but to keep their hair healthy, despite the hot lights, long hours, and serial styling required on set.

Given Mitch Stone’s experience in dealing with celebrities, we asked him to give us his take on a random collection of celebrities and their hair styles. Note that all these comments are his!

Scarlet Johannson

Love this look! Wavy, sexy, tousled! Perosnally, I would have liked to see this a bit less tight curl. To get this look, use a large curling iron and wrap hair in vertical sections then use a volumizing spray and gloss drops for shine.

BeyonceShe is flawless and can pull of any look. Even one like this letting the make up and dress stand out! Pull your hair back and twist it up! For a more modern look let the ends pop out!

Blake Lively

Sexy! Love her color she’s a natural blonde! To get this look, use a volume texture spray, give it a little mist all over, then use a large curl iron in it in various sections. You can change directions of curl too for more texture! Then finish with shine drops and a medium hold hair spray!

Jennifer Lopez

Unless you are on stage, walk away from this one. 🙂 Too frizzy and messy…

Jennifer Garner

The style is great but the color is not. Way too blase. Either she needed to change the dress color, or add some highlights. To get this style, tease the root at the crown after drying a volume texture spray into the root, then pull hair back into either a pony tail or a messy twist, then pull out all around the nape and fringe! This softens the look and gives it its modern edge.

Jessica Alba

How do you mess w perfection?…. messy yes.. but with a face and outfit like that.. 🙂

Jessica Biel

Love this cut and style. Not so much on her however. This is great for a person w big forehead or round face. Cut the fringe, color the ends ombre style and then when styling, just use large iron in a handful of sections on the lower shaft of the hair! The use gloss drops for separation and shine, finish and lock in the wave with hairspray!

Anne Hathaway

I love the Audrey Hepburn look… but I think I like her better w longer hair. If u go for this cut be petite and have small features especially the nose. Unless you have the confidence to own it, then its suoer sexy. Use a paste and a volume texture spray and gloss drops to bring out texture in the cut! Play away! Short hair is great to just push your hair all around for a sexy textured look!

Emma Stone

Sexy updo’s are great! She looks to have twisted it up or even braided it first. Braiding it partly before you put it up gives you great texture. Just keep putting up different sections until it is well balanced. Start but spraying a texture spray all over, then drying with fingers and head upside down. Then braid or twist sections up and pin! Finish Set the look with a firm hold hairspray!

Jennifer Lawrence

Very red carpet! Love her red color too. Use a volume texture spray at the roots and throughout, then dry, then section hair and use a medium curling iron all over. Finish with a few gloss drops for shine and separation. Finish with a firm hold hairspray,
