Sofia Vergara: Thumbs UP

Anne Hathaway

Kate Hudson

Maybe

Jennifer Lawrence— the bust doesn’t fit right but the color is in her favor!!

Jennifer Garner— she needs to change up her hair style. UP isn’t always red carpet when you have a dress like this.

Amy Adams— the color of the dress does her no favors but the hair style and the dress style are good.

Jessica Alba love the great color but between these two ladies and a few others, mermaid hems should be tossed back into the sea.

Thumbs Down
Heidi Klum The dress reminds me of one she wore last year.

Marion Cotillard— Either decide which dress you are wearing– not both at the same time.

Thumbs Down
Julianne Moore: she needs some hairstyle softness around her face and while her lips have great definition.. they dominate her face (what about the brows?)

Jessica Chastain: What is with it with the redheads tonight? Jessica’s hair is “meh”, should be more “old Hollywood” and her brows lack real definition. Let’s NOT talk about the dress!

Thumbs Up
Isla Fisher: rocks it from her hair to her gown– all similar hue with a rich lip for contrast!

Megan Fox: Amazing make-up done. Everything in key-but I wish the lips were a little darker. Her hair was perfect!

Julianne Margulies: Wow– talk about taking a step on the wild side. Dark blue, deep backdress, Pulled back hair and a red lip. Nothing gets someone’s attention more.

Rachel Weisz Everything above the neck is fabulous. Skip the rest!

Maybe

Tina Fey: Her dress is good – not great. Her make-up is OK. I like her eyes. Her lips need more color and her hair was perfect!

Rosario Dawson: Her hair is great and her eyes sparkle. The lips lack some real color pop to contrast with the dress (which needs a style makeover but the color is amazing on her)

Jennifer Lopez: Great hair, monochromatic face with a monochromatic near nude dress. She plays it super-safe except with the dress style. What’s with her talon-like nails?

  1. I haven’t seen this particular red carpet. But overall isn’t it about spotting the stars who know what works for them and dont just go with the trend?

  2. This video isn’t mine– it’s done by lifeminute.tv and they are showing the trends that were hot on that red carpet– and often you will see several variations on a theme — the nude/blush dresses, the one shoulder dresses, the slit up the “there ” dresses.

The media here don’t go with those that always follow their gut– because sometimes you get someone like Daniel Day Lewis’ wife who shows up in a day dress with boots and a regular tote bag — which is obviously about her being comfortable and not about being on the red carpet.

She made no one’s list– and often there are celebs who rely on their own taste (jennifer lawrence had no idea what Haute meant in terms of Haute Couture) who make huge mistakes.. and others who rely on stylists who make huge mistakes. it’s often the stylist who helps the celebrity navigate getting a dress, shoes, gems and such to borrow because they know everyone and it is EXCEPTIONALLY time consuming. ( I was a stylist at one time.. I do it occasionally)
