HOT NEWS: Orthaheel and Dr. Weil Integrative Footwear are kicking off the 2nd annual nationwide Walkabout campaign on National Walking Day, April 3, 2013.
Participants are encouraged to commit to walking just thirty minutes a day to attain physical and emotional health and wellbeing. The campaign will take place over a 28-day period during which participants will receive daily email encouragement, tips and the chance to win prizes.
Select ambassadors will be chosen to lead walking groups across the country as part of the 28-day Quest for Good Health.
“Now, more than ever, is the time for Americans to become empowered to take control of their health,” said Phillip Vasyli, podiatrist and founder of Orthaheel and the Vasyli footwear brands. “By engaging in thirty minutes of daily walking, people can dramatically improve their path to wellness while assisting with stress and anxiety management.”

Australian podiatrist Phillip Vasyli, global health expert Dr. Andrew Weil, and fitness expert and celebrity trainer Juliet Kaska of JK Zen Fitness will kick-off the nationwide Walkabout on April 3rd, coinciding with National Walking Day.
TheWalkabout campaign is open to the public to participate in and to serve as champions of walking, putting a public spotlight on walking for physical and emotional health. The campaign is also an opportunity to engage in an online community of walkers encouraging all Americans to get out and walk.
According to a study by the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA),72 percent of Americans say they do not exercise because foot pain prevents them from doing so. This astounding figure emphasizes the importance of investing in a good pair of shoes or walking-friendly sandals that are breathable, offer good arch support, are relatively lightweight and have flexible soles to allow the front of the foot to flex comfortably.
Orthaheel and Dr. Weil Integrative Footwear offer shoes to fit three lifestyles – the individual who incorporates their daily walking routine into their commute, a parent walking to the park, or the power walkers.
In particular, the Weil Rhythm Walker features a removable orthotic footbed that supports the feet and helps realign the lower-legs, improving posture and balance – an ideal option for daily walking.
In addition, Orthaheel and Dr. Weil Integrative Footwear will provide incentive gifts throughout the 28-days for virtual walkers who post to their chosen social media outlet.
