Cheryl B. Engelhardt Talks about Album #3 “One Up”, Video and Podcast #1!

Looking for some interesting music that’s new, evocative, meaningful- even gut-wrenching? You have just found it with Cheryl B. Engelhardt.

As a successful musician, composer, and career coach, Cheryl B. Engelhardt has survived her share of bumps and bruises. And like all of us, she has had her struggles with love as well. Her third studio album, One Up shares her life stories of overcoming the challenges of love with her mate and within herself. The album is a triumphant culmination of this seasoned composer’s breadth of musical versatility, from toe-tapping pop (“I Luv U”) to guitar-riffing rock (“Steaming Hearts”) to rap and hip hop (“Side By Side”), all with the message woven throughout of how love conquers all.

A Cornell graduate and former government SCUBA diver, Cheryl pours her life’s experiences into the album, most of which mirrors her relationship with husband-to-be, Silas Rossi, famed mountain climber and guide.

“Over half of the album was written about our relationship,” says Cheryl.

From getting over heart-wrenching arguments in the worst of times (“Steaming Hearts”) to doe-eyed dreaminess (“I Luv U”) to overcoming loneliness and separation (“Memory”) to forgiveness and growth (“Where I Am”, “Trust Me”), the album spans the hills and valleys of the soul.

The Making of Streaming Hearts:

Bree Noble, founder of Women of Substance Radio, says about One Up:

“I am so impressed by the balance between pop and artsy, between uplifting and honest. Listening to this album is better than drinking a cup of Starbucks coffee (that’s saying a lot for me)! It lifted my mood, enlivened my spirit and warmed my soul.”

A true do-it-yourself artist, Cheryl funded her One Up album entirely with fan donations. She has also licensed some of the album’s tracks to TV commercials and shows, including ABC Family’s promotional ad and So You Think You Can Dance as well as stores like Anthropologie.

Cheryl’s personal success in living her dream and earning a living off her music inspired her to share her wisdom with others. She has written an e-course entitled In The Key Of Success: The Five Week Jump-Start Strategy, which is available on her website (cbemusic.com).
She has spoken on a number of panels, including at SXSW Music Festival in Austin, Texas and regularly provides career coaching for musicians.
Part 2 of this podcast will deal with this SXSW Music panel and how to maximize your musical career! So stay tuned for THAT podcast and blog post.
