Get Your Buns Toasted: It’s National Hamburger Month + a National Hamburger Day

Who knew there was such a thing as National Hamburger Month and also a National Hamburger Day? I should be the queen of burgers– because when I find a great place, it’s hard to pry me from the burgers till I get sated from trying every single burger on the menu.. then I do more exploration.
I wish that more sliders were on menus so that one could try various burgers that way. Hard choices– but someone’s got to do it.

I know that the month is almost over- but I had all kinds of things like Mother’s Day and Cinco de Mayo and now Memorial Day coming up hot and heavy.
Here are TWO events– one is local to So. CAL, the other is more national since it involves a chain of restaurants for burgers!

Olive & Thyme is hosting a “Burger Night” every Friday throughout the month.
Each Friday, the restaurant will offer three off-menu burger options – one turkey burger and two beef burgers – and each are served with housemade chips.

Selections will change weekly and include favorites such as:
the Truffle Burger with truffle port wine reduction, garlic aioli, and imported Italian truffle cheese on a toasted English muffin;
| a BBQ Burger with Hickory BBQ Sauce, Sharp Yellow Cheddar, Applewood Smoked Bacon, Beer Battered Onion Ring on a Brioche Bun; and a
Spicy Turkey Burger with housemade spicy Russian dressing, roasted jalapeno and pasilla peppers, aged white cheddar, smoky onion straws on a brioche bun.

Everything at Olive & Thyme sounds so yummy. Do check out their site.

COST: Burgers range from $12 to $13 (exclusive of tax and gratuity).
WHERE: Olive & Thyme 4013 Riverside Drive Toluca Lake, CA 91505

In celebration of National Burger Day on May 28th, Smashburger will be giving away a free Classic Smash nationwide to anyone with the last name “Burger,” or variations thereof.

web-smashburger

This works for me– considering there are a few Smashburgers around me.. however I am not even CLOSE to qualifying for a freebie burger with a last name of WILSON!

WhitePages.com reports that there are 21,687 people in the United States with the last name Burger alone, however all burger lovers with the variations of the name Berger, Weinberger, Rosenberger, etc. are also invited to participate in the celebration.

This offer is valid at all Smashburger Los Angeles locations (Culver City, Redondo Beach, Orange County and Thousand Oaks) as well as Smashburgers nationwide and will require proof of last name (license, passport, or picture ID).

Or you can make it easy on yourself and hit your fave restaurant or gastro-pub and order a burger (or two or three) during the month of May. I would be that you probably have had one– I have!

So get with the celebration of National Burger Day 5/28 and National Burger Month -MAY.

Take a risk and try something different in burgers!!

  1. smashburger actually has a veggie burger too. I just don’t have a good shot of one that looks anything close to the Smashburger above or even to the one I had last night at the Federal Bar in Long Beach,

  2. come on Stevie, that’s just not fair. Actually our best burgers in London (IMO) are from Bar Boulud, and I think that is of American origin…

  3. Actually the best hamburger is here in So. Ca.. there are 2 outposts of the same restaurant.. had it last night TO DIE FOR!!
omg the best burger I have EVER tasted.
