Cool Haus is an indie brand and originally started out with USPS vehicles that were up for purchase to clear out the way for new ones (The white little trucks with the steering wheel on the flip side!) I met them early on as they were waves locally in the Weho/Hollywood area and Daily Candy had talked about them a couple of times.
I had been to an event sponsored by Lucky Magazine and when it was over I walked out and that was the treat that was from the event. I had a hard time deciding what to get but I got something sweet & delish and I was standing on the sidewalk watching the queue for the little ice cream truck on Sunset get longer and longer!
Now the brand has their ice cream sammies and their ice cream pints in fine markets across the country. The growth of the company hasn’t stunted their creativity. If anything, it has spurred it on. Looking at giving back with some gratitude, they decide to share their best recipes in a brand new cookbook!
Now the owners part with the recipes for their coolest creations, like the:
Buck-mint-ster Fuller (Dirty Mint Chip Ice Cream + Chocolate Chip Cookies);
the Frank Behry (Strawberries & Cream Gelato + Snickerdoodles).
Daring flavors range from classic (Cookies & Sweet Cream), to boozy (Bourbon Manhattan), to vegan (Lychee Martini Sorbet), and even savory (Fried Chicken & Waffle).Sandwiched among the treats are tips on ice cream making, profiles of major and up-and-coming architects, and amusing tales of the owners’ foray into the ice cream business.

The ad is very funny. I like the idea of ice cream sandwiches, but am afraid to stock them around here on a regular basis…way too tempting. Small batch is the way to go.
