The Institute of Art + Olfaction Second Annual Fragrance Awards! #AOAwards

Friday, April 17, 2015 the Second Annual Art + Olfaction Awards were held in LA at the Goethe Institute with an after-party at the Art and Olfaction Offices. What a crazy-great event! I have all the winners and some event photos for you to check out. While it is definitely not the same as being there, it’s worth a look since the event was 1) invite only and 2) invites were a hot commodity (everyone wanted to go but space was limited)

I recently ran a post + podcast about the Second Annual Art and Olfaction Fragrance Awards. It’s been shared a lot by fragrance peeps which I greatly appreciate. While the podcast is the key or bridge to this post, that podcast explains what the awards are; the 3 different categories as well as the how they are judged. If you have questions that are more about about those same topics, please visit my post and hear the podcast there or on Soundcloud.

However t Steven Rimlinger was the photographer for the Awards event and he is a gifted man! He did this video on the judging:

Here are photos of the pre-awards reception:

Daniel Krasofski created a liqueur/aperitif that is based on one of his fragrances. He turned a gorgeous fragrance into an equally incredible sip!

Guests “sniffing” the scents of each finalist!

More sniffing — and if you look carefully into the background of this photo, you will find me (but only a part of me) between a dark-haired man and a blonde woman. Good luck seeing me because it is just a sliver!

drinks
There were a larger number of guests this year and it was quite exciting with an array of potions, wines and water, small bites and the opportunity to meet any finalist who was able to make it to LA!

brent and crew
More guests including Smell Bent’s Brent Leonesio.

jeffrey-paul
Jeffrey Paul (noted makeup artist and hair stylist) volunteering for the night!

This was held at the Institute of Art and Olfaction!

I was so glad to be invited to this great event. While there I talked to John Sterling, Robert Berryman, Dawn Spencer-Hurwitz, Adam Eastman and Franco Wright (founders/owners of LuckyScent.com and Scentbar!) Brent Leonesio, Yosh Han, Ellen Covey and so many others who I was able to wave to because it was a very busy event.

Thank you Saskia Wilson-Brown for the fab podcast, another great event. You and your team outdid yourself!

  1. I would love to wear black pepper and sandalwood ..so snazzy. The idea of matching drinks to scent is very exciting. Looks like a good time for everybody.
