Secrets of the Red Carpet: Daisy Ridley Has a French Glow Courtesy of Chanel Beaute’, Leonor Greyl & Chanel Couture!

Here is a great synergy that happens so infrequently but when it does happen, it’s too good to ignore. Daisy Ridley wore Chanel couture for Oscars 2016 along with Chanel Beaute’ cosmetics and her hair stylist Robert Vetica (for Olivia Garden) used Leonor Greyl hair products– all French brands!

WHO: Daisy Ridley, Presenter

HAIR BY: Celebrity Hairstylist, Robert Vetica for Olivia Garden

INSPIRATION:

“This is Daisy’s first Oscars and she is breath of fresh air! Her look is young and cool, and at the same time very modern. For the inspiration, I drew from very structural hair styles, things that were molded organically, with twists and folds, and then the other end of the spectrum – looks that were fashion forward and crafted in a more technical, architectural way.
In the end, I took my favorite parts from each of those looks and combined them together, for a style that was high-end but still fresh. We played off the feeling of her Chanel Couture dress, which had a 1920’s flapper vibe, but didn’t want to be literal with hair down, so we decided to do our own version of that look and apply it to how those girls might wear their hair today.
Can I say that it’s badass? That’s how I feel about it!” – Robert Vetica for Olivia Garden

TIPS/TECHNIQUE:

“Since Daisy has shoulder length hair, I incorporated a 22-inch ponytail I made to achieve this style — not only for length, but for extra volume as well. When I was prepping those hairpieces, I sprayed in Leonor Greyl Huile Secret de Beauté Organic Beauty Oil for Hair and Skin. It’s so nourishing and smells so delish, and the hair piece should be treated with luxurious products and appropriate tools that don’t wreck or burn. I brushed through with Olivia Garden’s EC- 46 S brush with soft bristles.

“Next, I sprayed in Leonor Greyl Lait Luminescence Leave-In Detangling and Protective Spray. It’s a great prep product that works as double duty since it’s a heat protectant as well. I applied from roots to ends, lifting up the hair to ensure that it distributes evenly. Then I applied Leonor Greyl Mousse au Lotus Volumatrice Volumizing Styling Mousse and brushed through with Olivia Garden’s HH-P5 Ionic Vented Paddle Brush, which helps to ensure that the health of your hair stays intact — brushing wet hair with wrong tools can leave your hair more susceptible to damage.

“I then had Daisy flip her hair over and I focused on blow drying the roots, as that was one of the anchors for this hairstyle. Once the roots were mostly dry, she flipped her head back to an upright position and I began a typical blowout, sectioning off her hair and going over it with Olivia Garden’s CI-35 round thermal brush. Ceramic-based tools add extra heat to the hair and help mold and shape the style you’re going to create later. Once the hair was fully dry, I added Leonor Greyl Eclat Naturel Nourishing and Protective Styling Cream from the ears down, to avoid adding any eight to the top of the head.

“I took the very top section of hair at the crown and secured it while I began working in Leonor Greyl Gel À l’Hibiscus – Alcohol-Free Styling Gel to the back of the hair, brushing and combing the sides and the back of the hair up to a top knot right at the base of the crown. Then began spritzing Leonor Greyl Laque Souple Light to Medium-Hold Hair Spray to the top for a clean tight look and brushing and combing the top knot which was the base of my pony tail.

“Once this is complete, I took the remaining hair that I sectioned off in the beginning, and backed combed at the root to give the perfect shape at the crown, securing this section into the top knot with pins. I then took my prepped hair piece, and wrapped it around the top knot and secured it with bobby pins.

“I used Leonor Greyl Eclat Naturel Nourishing and Protective Styling Cream throughout the ponytail to smooth the hair and increase radiance and shine. I created two ponytails and twisted each section down the length, used a clear elastic to secure the twisted look every six inches. With bobbi pins, I secured the hair at certain points to finish the sculpted parts ensuring you wouldn’t see the elastics, and then sprayed the entire circumference of the style with Leonor Greyl Laque Souple Hair Spray.

INSPIRATION

I was inspired by the beautiful tones in Daisy’s pale, blue-grey CHANEL gown and the beautiful sparkle in the embellishments. I wanted to contrast and complement her gown with a gorgeous lip. We also created a silvery, smoky effect on the eyes, keeping everything simple, modern and young.

SKINCARE

I prepped the skin with CHANEL La Solution 10 de Chanel Sensitive Skin Cream. It’s great for everyone because it’s so light but also hydrating, and it leaves such a smooth, moisturized finish.

FACE

I applied CHANEL Vitalumière Aqua Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Sunscreen Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 15, highlighting with shade 10 Beige and contouring with shade 50 Beige. I finished with CHANEL Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Colour SPF 15, setting the highlighted areas with shade N°10 and the contoured areas with shade N°40.

EYES

Because Daisy’s hair was up, I wanted to frame her face with a strong, graphic brow. I used a dark brown pencil, CHANEL Sculpting Eyebrow Pencil in Brun Cendré. I applied a tiny bit of CHANEL Sculpting Eyebrow Pencil in Blond Clair around the lashline, almost as an eyeshadow base. I blended that and set everything with a mixture of the silver and charcoal shades from CHANEL Quadra Eyeshadow in Tissé Smoky, creating a wash of color around the upper and lower eyelid.

LIPS
I lightly defined the lips with CHANEL Precision Lip Definer in Scarlet, , then blended the color and finished with CHANEL Rouge Coco Stylo Complete Care Lipshine in Histoire. I love the finish of that product, because it has a modern texture that doesn’t look caked-on.

Love Daisy’s look? She also wore custom Louboutin shoes along with Chanel fine jewelry (earrings, ring, bracelet) and a gorgeous bag.
