Gugu Mbatha-Raw Glows at Toronto Premier of Black Mirror with Votre Vu Help!

I have a girl crush on Gugu Mbatha-Raw. I loved her historical movie, Belle! It’s gorgeous and she is gorgeous in it .. as well as being a phenomenal actor. She was at the premiere of Black Mirror at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and looks stunning!

Celebrity Makeup artist Agostina Lombardo used Votre Vu makeup to create Gugu Mbatha-Raw’s look for the Toronto International Film Festival premiere of Black Mirror.

Lombardo loved the color of Gugu’s dress. The true red shade inspired her to choose a modern-yet-chic aesthetic for the makeup. “The whole look was designed around the lip color. I wanted a red but not one that matched the dress perfectly. I needed something that had a brightness to it. I wanted Gugu’s face to light up.” She chose Votre Vu French Kiss Moisture Riche Lipstick in Tatiana. “It’s a red you don’t see often. Everyone’s doing dark, heavy shades now. I showed it to Gugu, and she loved it.”

Though the look was anchored by the lip color, Lombardo didn’t start there. Eyes and skin came first. On the eyes, she used the Votre Vu Palette Play Eye Shadow Quad in Copper.

She applied the bronze shade onto Gugu’s lids, copper in the crease and a pale yellowish shadow as a highlight on the actress’ brow bone. From the Votre Vu Palette Play Eye Shadow Quad in Violette, Lombardo used the black eyeshadow as her eyeliner, softly blending it with a brush. She also used the copper eyeshadow under her eyes.

To intensify the eyes, Lombardo then lined the outer corners of Gugu’s top lid with Votre Vu Le Joli Crayon in Charbon and blended it, also with a brush. She applied Votre Vu Charbon Eiffel Power Mascara on the top lashes only and shaped Gugu’s brows with Votre Vu Arch De Triumphe in Warm as well.

She perfected Gugu’s skin with Votre Vu Love Me Deux Moisture Tint and Concealer in Cannes Warm Medium and set it with Votre Vu Belle Poudre HD Sheer Face Powder in Golden Medium. For the cheeks, Lombardo used Votre Vu Beauté En Bronze Bronzer Duo. The bronze shade was used as a subtle contour, while she blended the peachy pink into the cheeks as a blush. “There’s a beautiful shimmer in this shade.”

Lombardo finished off the whole look with the Votre Vu French Kiss Moisture Riche Lipstick in Tatiana.

“I gave Gugu the lipstick so she could reapply before she got out of the car. But you never know if they actually do that, so I have to make sure the lipstick lasts.”

To give the color staying power, she first applied the lipstick directly to the lips. Then, with a lip brush, she lined the lips with Votre Vu Drawmatic Lip Liner in Tatiana to make sure the outline was perfect. And finally, she tapped the lipstick into the lip with her fingers.

“That gives it a more natural look, more like a stain, but it’s not matte. There’s still a beautiful sheen to it.”
