HOW IT WORKS
When you arrive you’ll receive a pair of special wireless headphones. You can adjust the volume and choose between up to three DJ’s with a flip of a switch.
Each headset has a color LED that shows what channel you are listening to, so you can dance along with those listening to the same DJ as you.
It’s super social; just lower the volume or take the headphones off to talk to that girl or guy.
There’s no loud music that you have to talk over. Plus, there’s no ringing in your ears when you leave!

To celebrate the installation, Arts Brookfield will host a Show-Your-Spirit-Animal Quiet Clubbing Party!
Dance among the giant internally-lit sculptures on FIGat7th Plaza and check out the whimsical wearable balloon sculptures as they bounce to the beat of the Quiet Clubbing DJs. FIGat7th and Arts Brookfield invite guests to wear costumes showing their most ferocious spirit animal!

Those who wear costumes can enter a raffle with the winner receiving a $250 gift certificate to FIGat7th. For those who want to start the night off early, a happy hour and live DJ will take you to ‘animal mode’ in the FIGat7th TASTE Courtyard at 4 p.m. with the Show-Your-Spirit-Animal Quiet Clubbing Party starting at 6 pm.
RSVP recommended and early arrival suggested.

About this Animal Sout by Jason Hackenwerth:

The out-of-this-world artworks by Jason Hackenwerth are coming to Downtown Los Angeles through his site-specific installation, Animal Soul. Arts Brookfield, the award-winning arts and events program for Brookfield Property Partners, has commissioned Hackenwerth to create three large-scale, internally lit, inflated sculptures to span across Brookfield’s Downtown Los Angeles campuses, FIGat7th (735 South Figueroa Street) and Wells Fargo Center (333 South Grand Ave.) starting July 14 through July 22, 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. Arts Brookfield is dedicated to showcasing free, open to the public art and cultural initiatives, in a continued to effort to bring Brookfield’s public spaces to life.
Exhibited at several famous institutions and fairs including the Guggenheim, Scotland Museum of Art, Victoria and Albert Museum, the Venice Biennale, and Art Basel, Miami, Hackenwerth is known and praised for transforming common materials, such as the latex balloons, into sculptures with outrageous color patterns and designs, that resemble animals, insects, aliens, and more.

“Brookfield is committed to enlivening the public spaces within our portfolio through public art,” said Bert Dezzutti, Executive Vice President and Head of the Western Region for Brookfield Property Partners’ U.S. Office Division. “Through Arts Brookfield, we aim to identify initiatives that will provide dynamic experiences for those who work in and visit our sites, and we think Jason Hackenwerth’s installation, Animal Soul, will add a unique and exciting element to our properties in Downtown Los Angeles.”

The three Animal Soul sculptures will tower over the viewer at 20 to 30 feet high and will be on view for nine days in Downtown Los Angeles this summer. Additionally, Hackenwerth will create two wearable sculptures made entirely of sewn balloons. These sculptures double as costumes and come to life when donned by performers dancing through the streets of Downtown Los Angeles at random times during the run of the exhibition.

“Animal Soul is intended to surprise those who encounter it with wonder and awe. When we are stunned and amazed by something beautiful and exciting, for a brief moment all of our other thoughts disappear and there is only the experience,” says Hackenwerth. “In an urban landscape setting, the huge and strangely animal-like sculptures of Animal Soul will feel wild and playful and might transport visitors to a fantastical imaginary world if only for a short time.”
