Finding time to work out is really hard. I know! I have been there too. I also used the inconvenience and lack of time as excuses as to why I wasn’t working out. I joined gyms, I took all kinds of classes in the evening- tap dance lessons, yoga, jazzercise, plus walking but nothing kept my attention (along with the next day feeling so sore!) Nothing! I tried at-home workouts on video and DVD and those were often 20 minutes long and I felt that was sufficient. (Nope, it was not sufficient!) However, when I wound up with a frozen shoulder due to my move (a few years back), the good health “lightbulb” went off and I made a commitment to take care of my body and health. I started off with 15-20 minutes a day. I added more variety into the workouts and slowly added more time– about 5 minutes a week every 7-10 days depending on the workout. As I hit 20 mins, then 30 and 40 minutes, I added more workout videos. I tried doing different modalities. And the results are that I like working out. It’s “me time” where I can focus on me. I feel that the commitment is really important to me and short of being ill; I do it every day, rotating through various workouts and different equipment.
I got an email talking about Chair Workouts. I read through it and was intrigued. I wondered if it was like other chair workouts that I had seen that primarily geared to senior citizens. I jumped right to the site and pulled up a YouTube video and I was very happy with what I saw- an energetic workout that featured exercises sitting in the chair that just about anyone can do. By the time I got through 2 exercises, I could feel my body being challenged and that form was key (abs are engaged, legs and arms are working intensely.) I love this workout. I did my mini-workout at my desk and found that it would work for almost anyone who is tied to a desk for work. The exercises are easy to learn and are physically challenging.
