I love finding out about new cocktail and spirit brands. Lucky for both of us (that’s YOU and me), that I got an email telling me about this new brand of canned cocktails- based in Los Angeles! (YAY!!)

Costa Brava Cocktails, a startup division of LazKap Beverages Inc., launches its innovative line of zero sugar, zero carbs premium vodka canned cocktails in Southern California. Costa Brava Cocktails are initially featuring two flavors: Lemon Drop and Vodka Cranberry.

Costa Brava Cocktails has created the first ever Zero Sugar & Zero Carb line of vodka-based canned cocktails. 

Costa Brava Cocktails offers cocktails in a vibrant 12 fluid ounce can that captures the spirit of Los Angeles’s  sun, surf and sand lifestyle. These drinks boast
–6.7% alcohol,
–contain only 130 calories,
— a great flavor profile!

There is no sacrificing taste according to company co-founders,  Matthew Kaplan and Ethan Lazar, both LA natives.


The founders picked the PERFECT TIME to launch these  tasty cocktail experiences in a can– SUMMER! Their descriptions have me thinking about  sitting out in my yard with a couple of these or getting some friends together to head to the beach.


A go-to bar staple. Smooth vodka with a refreshing berry blast.  Tastes like paradise.






A unique twist on a classic cocktail. Bold flavors with a little lemon kick. Best enjoyed ice cold in or near a body of water. Sand is also permitted.



About the Founders: Matthew Kaplan and Ethan Lazar












Costa Brava Cocktails was envisioned by the co-founders, who have had a brother-like bond since elementary school.  While studying together in Barcelona, Spain, they traveled to the nearby beach region of Costa Brava, and this vacation retreat became the inspiration for the brand’s namesake. The partners are recent business degree graduates of the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Kaplan and Lazar are former high school baseball stars who have always shared a passion for physical fitness. As they reached adulthood, both became increasingly concerned about maintaining healthy living while still enjoying the social aspects of going out with friends.  Kaplan and Lazar became focused on the negative effect of sugar and carbs in alcoholic beverages.  The newly minted entrepreneurs said that this (concern about carbs and sugar) began their search for cocktails that would enable consumers to have it both ways– a drink that tasted great but did not have the usual ills of sugar and carbs that lead to weight gain.  Costa Brava Cocktails was the culmination of an extensive industry study as well as months of product development at the flavor house.

PS.. Ethan and Matthew graduated from college in 2019. These two men are go-getters with a capital G!
