Labor Day Approaches! Time to Choose Your Holiday Cocktails!

It’s been insane for the last week as I realize that Labor Day is just around the corner. Several of my friends are feeling the
impact of the “end of summer”.. which in greater So. California seems to get hotter every day. While we haven’t had a lot of hot weather of late in the greater LA basin, it is coming in fast (as in tomorrow!) I love this time of year because I
can still spend time on my patio, head to the park, or meet friends for happy hour or brunch (The “friends” have been vaccinated; wear masks when going out as well as abide by social distancing.)

This is the time of year when I really love to mix up a few cocktails and see who likes whatever cocktail. For me, I mix up the recipe and test drive a cocktail and then see if I need to adjust the recipe. I am sharing some recipes that are fruit-oriented cocktails. I love making fruit the focal point. It’s fun, easy and it makes for a memorable cocktail.

 

Pomegranate Ginger Bubbly

 

 

Ingredients:

1/2 can Spicy Ginger Volley

½ oz. Triple Sec

Juice of ½ lime

Splash of pomegranate juice

Garnish with an orange and/or lime wheel and pomegranate seeds

Method: 

Mix the Spicy Ginger Volley and Triple Sec into a  shaker filled with ice.
Shake for at least 45 seconds, then add in the lime juice.
Shake for another 20 seconds
Add in pomegranate juice and shake for another  15 seconds.
Pour into  a tall glass filled with ice!

 

 

Koji Collins:

 

Ingredients: 

1.5 oz Rendezvous Rye 

0.5 oz Pineapple Rum

0.25 oz Amaro Montenegro

0.75 oz Miso Syrup

0.75 oz Lime Juice 

Bar Spoon Yuzu

Mint sprig  & Chinese 5- Spice Garnish

Method: 

Add all ingredients except soda water to a cocktail shaker with ice,
Shake until chilled.
Double strain into a Collins glass with ice,
Top with soda water.
Garnish with a mint sprig.

 

 

Watermelon Flecharita

 

 

Ingredients:

1 ½ oz Flecha Azul Blanco

1 oz Agave Syrup

½ oz Lime Juice

4 oz Watermelon Cubes (Remove Seeds)

Chamoy and Tajin Rim

Watermelon Garnish

Method:
Combine Flecha Azul Blanco, agave syrup, lime juice, and watermelon cubes in a shaker with ice and shake.
Strain into a Chamoy and Tajin-rimmed rocks glass over one large ice cube.
Garnish with a watermelon slice.
