It was Emmys last week and I can’t say I thought it was the greatest event. Those with great performances won– and there were some surprises which was lovely. However the red carpet fashion was — except for the guys particularly those in Brooks Brothers– not so great IMHO.

Leaving on a Jet Plane: Kauai Won’t Know What Hit Them …

We are almost half way to Lihue as I am typing this up on my laptop. Interesting enough, the computer detected a wifi connection up there at 38 thousand feet. My heart leaps with joy and try to connect but find.. ah,nope, not happening! I am sure it’s the wifi of the pilots and they won’t like me messing with their instrumentation while they are flying this plane to Hawaii.

Break Traditional Business Models: Improve Retail's Bottom Line by Using a New Model for a Brand's Look-Book!

As a blogger and a fashion editor, I get tons of look-books from various brands . Some are glossy and great– but those are from big brands with serious $$$ to burn. I love them and even keep them because some are so glorious but generally most look-books aren’t so terrific.
Smaller companies in the menswear, womenswear, childrens, accessories (handbags, jewelry, belts, shoes) and other lifestyle items often don’t have the big budget to produce great editorial style fashion shoots and use flat shots or sketches of what the products look like and you don’t get the real sense of texture, color or drama of the items.
What happens in the editorial space and to the buyers (for large chains or small boutiques) is a coin-toss. Either the editors or buyers have great visual capacity and can see in their mind’s eye what the silhouette will look like and are betting the colors described (often in defineable terms) are accurate to what they want in their stores or magazines. Or — on the downside of things, the item doesn’t come close to reflecting the flat image or sketch and then the editor scraps that item from the feature . Unfortunately for the store buyer (no matter the size of the store), they are stuck with the purchase because it doesn’t work within the store’s demographic for a myriad of reasons. This affects the economy when someone won’t buy a line based on poorly done line sheet– or buying off that poorly designed linesheet and the items not really fulfilling expectations and mark-downs and returns to manufacturer occur. It’s a “lose-lose” situation!
JSPRLinesheetComparisons[1].jpg
This is the example of a typical look-book line-sheet and it’s not very appealing.
Recently I was got to preview a new way of presenting look-books & line-sheets that will blow away editors and buyers because it accurately shows the details of the item. It’s smokin’ haute.– and it’s insanely affordable when someone realizes that it increases the likelihood of sell-through to the stores and to the consumer. This presentation was created by Joseph Stephen PR (and it doesn’t require you to be a client to obtain this service either)
Here’s the new linesheet design
web-jewelry-linesheet.jpg
Compare the sketches above with this line sheet and tell me which one you would want to display your products or as a buyer who wants to order merchandise.
Here are the important points about this unique presentation.
–Focused, clutter-free design that represents the brand better than any other method on the market.
–High-Resolution images print beautifully and clearly and show off products really well.
– Delivery: Large Printable PDF or Small (2MB) PDF for email and web.
– Recommended by both stylists and buyers as an effective way to properly present.
– Each book is checked by NYC Celebrity Stylist Jennifer Boyd for appeal and effectiveness. (When was the last time you were offered that option?)
Ok I am sure you are wondering now what the price tag is on this. Looks pretty luxe doesn’t it? I thought it was amazing. The lookbook/line-sheet like the jewelry page you saw is the typical of the quality.
Usually the for 30 unique images, the price for that look-book/line-sheet is $150.00-$200.00 .
Yes, you read that right: one hundred fifty to two hundred dollars. What a STEAL!! It’s barely a dent in any designer’s budget and you can have an amazing presentation that puts your brand into top-tier presentations. Stylist Jennifer Boyd helps edit and sort through the presentation so that the sheets are set up as collections and make a logical progression.
