It makes no difference if it's from a box as a DIY or in a salon the screwed up-- except one hair color treatment costs a whole lot more !! When I went to a place I was going to re-review in West LA, things went horribly awry when someone did exactly what I told her NOT to do and the color was wrong, wrong and MORE wrong when roots grew out in 2 weeks + the color started turning orange. This is the hair after the West LA salon -- the first day. It didn't look like that 2 weeks later! It was getting lighter & orange. Thanks to Makin Waves Salon in Huntington Beach & COLLEEN, she figured out what was wrong-- and told me all the inside stuff like where this person screwed up- and she did a terrific job fixing it. Sometimes you can get yourself in trouble via a box of home color too-- and I have done that more than once. If you don't like it, go to a pro. While there is Color Oops-- it's NOT the same as a professional who can tell you how to condition your hair back to health. If you are in So CA, Makin Waves is a great place to go.
