Kauai's North Shore Expedition Part 2: Coconut Marketplace
Forgot to give you the actual launch of the day--i.e., the sunrise photos! I seem to wake up before sunrise to stretch and then I grab the camera as the clouds start clearing.

Sunrise #1

Sunrise #2-- the clouds are moving fast because it's been raining hard with howling winds all night!

Sunrise #3 and this was the nicest one I think because of the impressionistic effect of the clouds.
While the Coconut Coast Marketplace was a bit of a back-track, we needed things to open up so we went back since we knew the marketplace well-- or used to know it well. There is about a 50% vacancy rate which is very sad but some of the anchor stores are still there along with this little kiosk filled with dichroic glass jewelry. I am a huge fan of this kind of jewelry and I had to stop and look.
With lots of earrings and pendents, there was a lot of pieces to look at. I wish I had taken more photos particularly of the earrings.

Dichroic Glass #1 from Paula Morikami and her son.

Check out the details on these pieces! They are amazing. I had such a hard time choosing but eventually I did. I

I spent over 30 minutes with Paula Morikami. She's amazing. Can you figure out which one I bought? I didn't even take photos of the earrings. The pendant I chose was the last photo, third row from the bottom and the far right piece.
I will take a photo of each piece I got and post it -- eventually. Don't expect it in a day or two.
If you visit Kauai, you should visit her stand. Also if you are interested in any of these pieces you can email her at hotflashes@hawaiianintel.net
These pieces have a great many layers to them and are highly unusual. Love these pieces and I highly recommend that you check out Paula and her artist son because they create highly unusual jewelry that will blow you away (and it's affordable and one of a kind)
