Podcast with new author and deputy editor of Cosmopolitan Magazine, Lauren Lipton about her new book. Not your typical chick-lit book, it’s something different and has more thought and substance yet is fun to read too.
Sometimes truth is stranger than fiction and being able to transform that "truth" into fiction a la writing a book, is something to be applauded and something I have to investigate. Little did I know that colleague and friend, Lauren Lipton would be the subject of a pitch from a PR firm about her book, "It’s About Your Husband" from WARNER BOOKS.
What’s great about Lauren is that she’s always been a girly girl. C’mon, if you had to slot her into a Fashion-tribe, she would be a combo between the Downtown Doll and the Global Chic with a distinct pinch of Fancy Flirt in her. Want to know some of her inside tips –which is what her heroine in the book learns about (the hard way, no less)? Lipton shares them with you on her website with the " City Girl Secrets"
Lauren Lipton– Uh ? here, girlfriend. I so LOVE those shoes. Please pass on the store where you got them and the brand please? I love them.
Check out this podcast because you hear about how Lauren created this book– because it’s much more than just a chick lit book. Not only does Lauren tell you some tidbits about the book, she also gives you suggestions if you are a writer in the wings. If you are looking for the shove to get started or the kick in the derriere to get it finished, Lipton offers you some tips on how to get started and how to get it done!
If you are looking for a chance to meet and talk to Lipton, you are in luck. She’s in LA (actually Newport Beach, one of the places where I work) for a reading and signing. Think of this podcast as the best of what I want LA Story to be– a sharing of what makes creative people tick. Are they different from you and me? Not really, you just have to put yourself out there! It’s about knowing you can do. As Lauren says, if you have the beginning and the ending already in mind, you can create the journey and connect all the dots. It’s about sticking with the program and plugging away at it.

My thanks to Lauren who despite serious jet lag spoke to me EARLY on Thurs 11/2 to do this podcast. (I hope you had serious caffeine infusion). If there’s one thing that I know (besides, fashion, beauty and how to make a good drink but that’s another blog and podcast now isn’t it).. it’s a great book. Go buy this one! Buy 2–because you must have a girlfriend, sister, cousin, daughter that would love to read it too! Available at Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble, Borders and all the other bookstores out there. Just ask for "It’s About Your Husband" by Lauren Lipton. Or order it online through her website.
