Beauty and the Blog part deux
Morning!!
Well it is morning here in El-Lay and it’s not the same gorgeous, beautiful, sunshine-filled, crystalline day we had yesterday–especially at the beach where I live. However the overcast will burn off by noon-ish and we will have some sunshine though not as warm as yesterday.
Regardless of the weather –or your location, it’s crucial to use sunblock. It’s days like this that the UVA/UVB rays hit you hard and you don’t realize it. Whether you choose to use a cream (La Roche Posay SPF 40 or a lesser expensive TerraSport) or liquid (Cellex C or Skinceuticals or the less pricey Bullfrog or Neutrogena) or powder –yes there is a powder–(Colorescience Sunforgettable SPF 30+; transparent and lasts all day), you need to use a sunblock.
I know it’s boring; not fun; not sexy –well it can be if you put it on each other! Guys are notorious for not using sunblock. At least girls KNOW about it and use products that protect!
According to my derm (listed in LA Magazine’s Best Docs in LA County), it’s not the long days spent on the sand that cause the biggest risk, but it’s the daily exposure of walking to the car or train and the in and out of life. It’s the sun exposure through the windows that gets you. (whodathunk it!) You need to use something daily!
Ooh, that’s sunlight breaking through my window so that means it’s time to start my day. It’s brunch at Lucille’s (fine Southern-style cooking) with the SO and one of my friends who wants to do some biz with the SO. Before i hit that restaurant, it’s time for me to pop in a couple workout DVDs or videos. I probably will do The Bar Method today (yesterday was Hard Core Kickboxing and Madonna Grimes hip-hop workout) I do segments and mix it up to keep from being bored (and I get bored fast)
You are probably wondering what fitness has to do with beauty. Honey, if you aren’t healthy, you aren’t going to be beautiful inside and outside. Besides, it’s almost bathing suit season (EEK!!!), and a girl has to look good–especially in LA!
