**SPECIAL NOTE– READ ON FOR REGARDING FREE YOGA CLASS —-LIMITED TIME OFFER**
Now you may think that the last thing L.A. needs is yet another yoga studio. After all, there’s not much you can do breathe new life into the same old vinyasa. You know–inhale, exhale, up dog, down dog. But the new Truyoga studio attempts not only to redesign the yoga studio concept, but also to redefine the yoga practice. Designed by architect and yogi Peter Sterios, founder and CEO of Manduka Yoga mats, it is the brainchild and newest addition to the TRIFIT Club, owned by Gina and Bernard Baski.
Located in the Yahoo Center in Santa Monica, Truyoga offers a respite from the competitive and driven atmosphere of most gym space. Created to be “green” and eco-friendly, the studio utilizes recycled building materials and consists of a yoga studio, two massage rooms, a Pilates reformer and Pilates mat space, shower and changing area and retail boutique. The earth-tones and muted decor impart a sense of tranquility–an oasis in the midst of a corporate desert.
As for the yoga class itself–well, I’ve been practicing yoga for over six years and I’ve never experienced a yoga class like the one taught by Peter Sterios. It was both intensely challenging and deeply relaxing. Peter’s philosophy of yoga is also the title of his soon to be released DVD–“Gravity and Grace: Finding the Voice of Your Inner Teacher.” The warm and personable Sterios guides students through an opening sequence in preparation for asana practice, followed by a Dynamic Sequence, designed to circulate energy through asana, ending with a Closing Sequence, designed to prepare students for meditation.
PAY ATTENTION!! HERE’S THE GOOD PART!!
Best of all, you can experience the new Truyoga studio as they offer a FREE WEEK of classes from Saturday, January 13th through Saturday, January 20th.
They are offering 10% OFF purchases in their retail boutique and class packages during the opening week as well.
Reservations are not required, but highly suggested as class space is supposed to fill up quickly.
if you can’t make the free classes during opening week, you will have another opportunity in February–as a little “Valentine’s Day” present to the community, Truyoga will host a free workshop presented by Yogi-in-Residence Peter Sterios. The workshop will take place on Saturday, February 17th and Sunday, February 18th from 12 pm to 2:30 pm.
