I had talked to Jill Kirsh on the phone and she told me she had a piece coming up in the LA Times on May 17 (ok.. go back to the post here) written by Adam Tschorn. I saw it a few days later and was in awe of what Tschorn had written and I got a better idea of what was Kirsh was doing.
Also I realized that Tschorn was more of a “cool color” guy, so I was very interested in what Jill would do with me.

Based on what I had already heard about Jill Kirsh from her website www.jillkirshcolor.com, it’s pretty self-explanatory about how you can find the perfect colors for you– each of you out there– and can help you make shopping, getting dressed faster and easier. No more so-so clothing; no more blah or horrific fashion faux pas. Now you can look amazing by wearing the right colors based on your hair color. It’s so simple that you can even figure this out online– hence the website since Jill can’t fly all over the country and visit all of you.
A favorite of celebrities and stylists, Jill Kirsh works with lots of people (men love her) because it simplifies their lives when it comes to fashion. No more mistakes in buying the wrong color — or how to tweak an outfit (like that expensive suit or the basic LBD in your closet) by adding in jewelry, tops, and scarves that work the outfit to your benefit.
There is a bit of a trick to it, but once you “get it”, you can work just about anything.

After this little make-over, I was really surprised to figure out that 80% of my wardrobe of “winter tones” (read navy, grey, black and jewel tones) were pretty much not my color scheme. I couldn’t ditch the entire wardrobe, but it did mean a thoughtful and calcuated re-evaluation of what I had in my closet that would allow me to work what I had (the taupe suit, the black dresses, the skirts, jeans and pants in grey, navy & black) with other things that I had that were the right color: the yellows, the peridot & deep green tones, warmer reds & corals, teal, aquas and rich purples. The trick many times was to head to Target or online sales (read JCrew and other sales) to pick up tees, tops, jewelry and scarves for very little money that were going to pop those outfits into place.
Tomorrow is the cosmetic portion and the final look– as I morph under Jill Kirsh’s amazing color make-over.
