Nancy Lichtenstein returns to co-critique the Golden Globes 2011. We “heart” the red carpet fashions– as Nancy says this year was not as boring as last year. Listen to the podcast to see if that was a good statement or a negative one. Because boring is playing it safe– but not boring could be amazing — or it could be “what was she thinking?” moment!!
This edition of Celebrity Style Slam features
Natalie Portman vs Jennifer Love Hewitt.
Natalie Portman:
*Gown in blush with red rose embellishment by Viktor and Rolf
*Matchy-matchy handbag, ballet shoes and lipstick. (hmmm we didn’t know about the shoes till after the podcast!)
* Diamond necklace is pretty but invisible against her pale skin. Better to have picked a different necklace with some deep color that would brighten her face.
* French twist hairstyle is pretty but safe– maybe a little too safe.

Jennifer Love Hewitt
* Ramona Keveza strapless ice blue gown overwhelms her figure. I can’t figure out how to balance the pop-open top and the voluminous skirt.
* Hewitt managed to carve out an oversized hourglass shape with the Jennifer Behr bejeweled belt adds shape but no color– which this entire outfit needs. (Hewitt’s love affair with all things bejeweled– she needs to lose her love of the bedazzler.)
* Jewelry includes Le Vian diamond bangle, three rings by Le Vian, and a much too light-toned, and slightly over-sized envelope clutch.
* What is with her hair? Why the cupcake/cinnamon bun effect hair style? She would have given herself a more current look with a half up/ half down style that diminished the space between her ears and the top of the gown. That’s a lot of bare skin there.
Jennifer Love Hewitt
