Le Maison Richart Paris Chocolates were covered during Christmas 2010 but I did not have a chance to review them. They were kind enough to send me a Valentine’s presentation to review.
Michel Richart, master chocolatier, (known as the “Karl Lagerfeld of chocolate” in France), has created a unique collection based on chocolate, ganache and silky fruit centers. The collection, “Rouge Passion” is a tasty indulgence of passion fruit, red berries, salted butter, caramel coulis and chocolate. Each box features a slight variation on the Rouge Passion theme.
Sweet Exchange– the best of everything from the Valentine’s Collection.
The bouchee (large heart) is a chocolate heart that has the indelible sign of high end chocolates with a snap as you bite into it and is filled with chocolate ganache. Handpainted chocolates make for an exquisite presentation and the bouchee is incredibly decorated– making wish you could save it as a decoration. Don’t be silly.. eat it!! Slowly savor the different tastes of the chocolate and the ganache. Share it– because you can’t eat this all at one time and you never know what might happen when two people are uttering ecstactic sighs over the flavors of this chocolate.
The collection I was able to review was this one: Rouge Passion
This assortment consists of a delicious heart-shaped bouchée filled with a ganache, set with an assortment of Rouge Passion chocolates, filled with a ganache or a coulis. Under its dark chocolate shell, the bouchée hides a tender and silky heart, with extremely subtle aromas of passion fruit, red berries and chocolate. The finish is long, on the passion fruit and chocolate notes of the ganache. This whole experience exudes a sense of power.
The bonbons come filled with either a ganache or a coulis composed of passion fruit, red berries, caramel, trapped in a dark or milk chocolate shell each with it’s own snap of intense chocolate.
Trapped is an accurate description–because you must be careful when you bite into them because the passionfruit and caramel and red berry coulis is amazing but it’s packed into the square that it’s bound to drip so be careful how you eat it. the best bet– with a napkin so it doesn’t hit your clothing and if it drips on your face, maybe a special someone to lick it off.
It’s incendiary in feeling. It’s not spicy! It’s just the combination of the passionfruit plus sweet berries that contrast against the caramel and still have a salty component against the backdrop of the exquisite chocolate. Ummm, it can leave you speechless. REALLY! I shared this with others and each had the “oh my god” sensation and it was that luxe, luscious, rich, overwhelming presentation that blew everyone away– particularly me. It got to the point where I could only have one piece a day– despite it calling to me.
