Valentine’s Day might have crept up on you but I think you should be able to deal with this day in a sort of minimalist way – that would be interesting, fun, not so costly (or worth the $$ no matter what because it’s the perfect gift), light-hearted, or wildly seductive.
Here’s my tips on what to buy someone and I think if you have been following my blog, you can get the drift on where I am going with this And if you haven’t been following this blog, think about all you have missed!
For the Man in your life– and what you would like him to approximate. Smelling good doesn’t have to be expensive.. but at least he could try. Give him an array of these products and someone’s bound to be happy.
Old Spice Man on vacation!!
No matter what kind of smart phone you might have– or someone else might have, try adding a photo app to the phone. H
ere are some that I found for iPhone:
Instagram (free) gives you more than a dozen filters to get photos a unique presentation
Camera Bag ($2) has 13 filters plus a preview However some might find this app too simplistic. There is a version for the iPad as well. It’s worth checking out!
Vignette (Android) ($4.01)has a serious array of camera, lens and filter effects and you can customize the settings a la regular desktop photo-editing programs making this well worth the price.
Retro Camera is free and available in the Android Marketplace. You just need to download it. This is the free version. Want the PLUS version? It’s $3!! Check it out along with Picplz for some very interesting play-time.
Riffing off someone’s recent complaints that there is nothing for the Blackberry, I beg to differ. Here are a few photo- adjusting apps you might want to test drive
MiniPaint ($2 for purchase or free trial available). There are many options on this program– lots of filters and clip art available too.
imgEdit a $3 image editor that has lots of tools and is worth the price. It’s definitely something to impress the Blackberry user.
Picture Magic is another paid ($5) BB photo app that will give you lots of options to play with and have people impressed with what you did to a photo.
Fitness Gear and workouts
Le Personal Coach by Valerie Orsoni is as user-friendly as it gets. This simple, easy to use guide will suddenly make the gym workouts a thing of the past. Or it will elevate whatever workout you currently do to the next level while improving your health and your eating habits. Diet is a 4 letter word. There is no deprivation– just ways of incorporating healthy eating, healthy lifestyle and lots of tips, tricks and techniques.
Another workout that I think would be really fitting for Valentine’s Day is Dance A Gogo Sexy Workout Video. . Get the moves– and the workout– of the dancers who work in music videos and get your groove on in this workout video. Not only does this workout teach you to get your groove on, it defnitely makes you moves so much more powerful, sexier and your dancing will be noticed out on the floor– not to mention giving you a hotter body.
There are 3 different segments: Music Video workout; Latin Groove workout; and Nightclub Fun workout. It’s fun, fast, sexy, and relatively easy. You will be entertained. You will love learning this cool moves. Find this on www.danceagogo.com . It’s a great workout, it’s fun and I got better dance moves– and so can you.
Another video that’s ideal for this time of year and great for both men and women is The Golden Answer. If you are looking for a way to destress, relax, create a new perspective in your career, life, health, and more, this is the DVD for you. Rochelle Balin has created this guided meditation for you to learn in 6-10 minute increments that really can make a serious difference in your life. There are segments that get you started on learning about breathing, then focusing on clearing your negative energy and loops of negative thoughts and replacing them with positive ones, it’s amazing to see how much better you feel. The DVD includes special features and digital downloads which means you can take it on the run and spend time on a plane, bus or walking doing some meditative work. You do the entire meditation at least once a week, but getting started is so easy with doing a couple of segments every day– which is less than 15 minutes! Change the focus segment and you can change a lot of things in your life. There is a segment on youtube.com
Find this at www.balinyoga.com and hopefully this might be the answer for you. If it’s not, keep looking in that same arena because there are ways, books, people with whom you can connect.
Other things you might want to give either a guy or a girl would be a bottle of a great sparkling wine like Prosecco or some spirit that you know they like.
If chocolate is on the menu and you don’t want to a spendie brand, find some great treats from Chuao Chocolate (carried at Whole Foods, Kroger, Ralphs and other stores). These spicey choices should put a little sizzle into your life — if not your romance — for a few minutes at least.
Firecracker Chocolate Bars are the latest edition with premium dark chocolate bar with chipotle, salt and popping candy. Absolutely addictive– I ate an entire bar in ONE day in less than 30 minutes. It’s that addictive. It’s every childhood candy (at least from So. CA) in one dark chocolate bar.
Another option is the Spicy Maya Chocolate Bar
Infused with Pasilla chile, cayenne pepper and cinnamon, this is the original ingredients of the Ancient Mayans who introduced chocolate to the world (or at least the European explorers) with traditional ingredients that hark back to “The Mayans”, the original chocolate-worshipping culture in the world. Vegan too.
Also for women: Spongelles and Spongeables infused shower sponges have great scents, unique shapes , work for guys, kids, women and travel exceptionally well.
They also come presentations for pedicures too. I love them.
