Funny thing on weekends– I rarely go to Disneyland. What possessed me to randomly choose 5/7/2011 to head over for lunch and a meander through the “Big D” is beyond comprehension.
No where were there signs stating that the premiere was that night. No where (except in the tram which was exceptionally noisey) was there a mention of something closing down early. What I couldn’t quite make out!
We snagged lunch and then headed into the park. There were no signs at the bag check that it was Pirates of the Caribbean premiere and none at the entry to the park. Sort of odd but then my focus was getting into the park and getting around to a couple of rides.
Shiver me’ timbers you walk inside the main gates and into the area by the train station and immediately it’s crazy busy and tons of people milling around. I realize what we had walked into– Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides premiere. It wasn’t even 4 PM and the place was packed!!
We thought we could just get over to the Adventureland and jump on a few rides. It took over 20 minutes to get up the street because of the barricades and the street was blocked off and the walkway on each side of the street was reduced to one stroller width (really!). We snaked our way through the stores and tried to head into frontierland or adventureland. Alas, that entire section of the park (more than 50%) was closed for the event!!)
With roped off areas and stadium bleachers in the plaza square, it was insanely hard trying to get around and we were stuck going into Tomorrowland because I realized it was the “only” way into Fantasyland. No parades. No fun stuff. Everything was crowded and everyone was trying to get around and it was taking three times as long as usual (whatever you consider usual)
Rillian and the Doxie Chicks – On the Black Carpet at Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides
Pirate Name: Rillian Rauchbach Band Description: Rock and Folk inspired Pyrate songs and Irish tunes
We decided to turn around and head out– but stopped to grab some ice cream first. MISTAKE!! The crowds got worse. It was so tight that we had to cross the street– within the Disneyland designated crosswalk! It was insanity trying to get out. The bleachers were all over the park.

Penelope Cruz sparkled in PLATINUM jewelry by Chopard at the Los Angeles premiere of “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” on May 7th:
Platinum and diamond drop earrings (10 carats)
Platinum and diamond bracelet (57 carats)
Platinum and diamond ring (3 carats)
Celebrities love to wear platinum jewelry because it’s a naturally white metal, so it maximizes the brilliance of diamonds and other colored gemstones.

PS.. All those mouse-ears with the red scarves were given to people in the park. I walked out with one as well and wore it driving all the way home. Do you think I got any strange looks? Do you think I cared?
