Are you tired of sodas that are full of chemicals? Do you want something tasty to drink that doesn’t include alcohol? I would love to have a great tasting beverage that’s not chock full of sugar — or fizz—that actually tastes good. I think that summer 2011 is the time for change.
Here’s the change I made: Crystal Light. Actually Crystal Light has been a staple in my house for several years. These on-the-go packets though make things a snap when you want something with flavor but don’t want to pay the cost for expensive fizzy drinks that have a lot of the 2C’s– calories and carbonation.
Glam Media offered me an opportunity to get creative in my drink-making with Crystal Light. No alcohol– just create something interesting. PIECE OF CAKE!! I got a box of Crystal Light On The GO Packets in Iced Tea Flavor and also a single packet of 4 flavors to play with. I didn’t mix those flavors since I wanted to keep them true to the real flavor but I did get creative with what I mixed in.
Here’s the drink I created with a base of Iced Tea with Lemon,
natural tart cherry juice and guava nectar or juice along with garnish!
In a small pitcher, mix in the following
1 Packet of Crystal Light On the Go Packet – Iced Tea with Lemon
1/4 cup Tart Cherry Juice (tons of anti-oxidants in this.)
1/4 cup Guava Juice or Guava Nectar. (If you use the nectar, use 1/2 the amount)
1.5 cup Sparkling or flat water. I used some almost flat sparkling water– you couldn’t taste or see any bubbles.
If you use sparkling water, you will get that fizz. I am not overly fond of fizz but it works with drinks like this.
Mix well in the pitcher and if you can, add in a couple handfuls of ice cubes and keep stirring till the mix is chilled.
Fill a tall glass with ice cubes. I added in sliced strawberries, 2 raspberries and a slice of lemon into the glass before pouring the mixture over it. I garnished the drink with a lemon slice and a couple of colorful straws- one which got threaded with a raspberry.
I didn’t even get to drink it (ok– I had one tiny sip). My significant other grabbed it, took a sip and he loved it. So he marched off with the drink– which was gone in less than 15 minutes. He didn’t even know it was healthy with Vitamin C and lots of anti-oxidants.
Make sure you follow Crystal Light on Facebook and get creative with their Flavor over Fizz Challenge. You don’t need sodas to have a great summer beverage!!

Hopefully Crystal Light will like my thoughtful use of creative ingredients to maximize the powerful punch of the flavor + vitamins. Definitely a great product to have a work or give you some ideas for making beverages to take to on summer outings that will give you flavor and something good for you too.
