Hot DVDs and Toys for KIDS of All Ages!! Great for Thanksgiving Weekend & Holiday Gifting

One of the best things about the holidays is that you get to see a lot of new toys. Not a huge toy fan myself but I do recognize a winner that’s sure to capture the attention of kids and adults alike. Light Up Links is the toy for 2013. This indie toy design makes so much sense. The hands-on creativity; the fun aspect of doing this alone or doing this with others; plus you can create fun things and put them out on display.

BARGAIN ALERT!! Light Up Links is offering free shipping and handling (a $13.98 value) for anyone ordering through the link that is shown here –>: http://www.lightlinksworld.com. Discount will be applied ONLY by going through the link or USING A SPECIAL CODE: LUL . The FREE SHIPPING is good from now through Cyber Monday 12/2/2013!

What is LIGHT UP LINKS?

Mission
To expand creativity, bring families together, let the imagination run wild and give kids a much needed break from the technology around them.

Description
Light Up Links—giving kids the opportunity to unleash their creativity and expand their imagination one link at a time. Think it, link it, shake it and watch it glow! Wear it, share it, make a ball and give it a throw!

What comes in the Light Up Links kit?

Lightup Pods—these spheres have 5 spokes that point in all directions.
Equipped with LED lights that flash red, white, and blue, these pods also float in water! Just give them a shake to activate.

Flex Links—these flexible connectors twist and bend and connect to Lightup Pod spokes and Glow Stix.

Glow Stix—Strong and durable, these sticks come in three different lengths.

Wheels—make your Light Up Links go mobile with these fast spinning wheels that even come equipped with rotating axels!

What I love about these things is that
1) They are hard to break
2) They actually work the first time and every time!
3) They are suitable for everyone except those who can’t really see or little children who might suck on pieces. (keep them away from small children)
4) Light Up Links allow anyone and everyone to be creative and work out some fun objects that keep flashing. You can decorate a tree, your desk or a bedroom with these cool links
5) This is a very affordable toy for boys and girls as well as some adults who want something to do that’s just plain fun!

I got a kit (Thanks to Light Up Links for sending me one) and I had a great time playing with it. It’s a lot of fun and it would keep kids busy in the car on longer drives. It’s one of the best toys I have seen in a long time and at this price point you could buy several sets and give them as birthday gifts for your child’s friends or grandparent or extended family could have a couple kits for some children come to visit so they can keep busy!

A great toy from a smart mom and it makes so much sense.It’s a steal at the price of under $20 for a kit plus shipping and handling!
If you order ASAP from this site: https://www.lightuplinks.com/, you have an option of getting a second set for just the cost of shipping and handling!

DVDS: Disney Holiday Fare!

Disney’s The Little Mermaid on Blue-ray/DVD/Digital Copy on 3D!!

mermaid

Do you remember the Little Mermaid? I only remember it because my child LOVED that movie. We saw it so many times along with tons of other Disney DVDS and other kid fare daily. I used to be able to sing the songs without having to resort to lyrics. However for those who have small children now — as well as because until they remastered this movie for 3D and Blu-ray, it had been locked up in the vault. While it’s still around, it makes great family viewing since it’s perfect for anyone of any age range. The quality is spectacular and the ability to see the movie in Blu-ray is terrific. I don’t have 3D glasses so I can’t tell you how good this is but I know people who do have the movie and the 3D glasses and they love it. With a digital disc and another disc making it perfect for watching on the road or on tablets, this would make a great gift for Holiday 2013!

The timeless story of the Little Mermaid is making its Diamond Edition debut this October.
The Blu-ray contains oceans full of bubbly bonus features including:
an All-New Music Video by Carly Rae Jepsen singing “Part Of Your World”;
featurettes including @ Disney Animation which speaks with current Disney animators who were inspired by the film;
a Deleted Character;
The Real Little Mermaid: Live Action Reference Model;
Part of Her World: Jodi Benson’s Voyage To New Fantasyland Howard’s Lecture;
Crab-e-okee
along with your favorite songs and all the classic DVD bonus features.

Avaiable on 3-Disc Blu-ray Combo Pack (Blu-ray 3D + Blu-ray + DVD + Digital Copy + Music Download) for $49.99 SRP and 2-Disc Blu-ray Combo Pack with Digital Copy (Blu-ray + DVD/ Digital Copy) for $44.99 SRP.

Mickey’s Christmas Carol on Blue-ray & DVD with Digital Copy

Ring in the holidays with a new 30th Anniversary Special Edition of Mickey’s Christmas Carol. Disney’s timeless tale sparkles like never before on Blu-ray and Digital Copy, with fully-restored classic holiday shorts, plus all-new bonus features!

Make the season merry as Mickey, Goofy, Donald and all their pals star in a heartwarming retelling of Dickens’ unforgettable holiday tale. Ebenezer Scrooge (Scrooge McDuck) is far too greedy to understand that Christmas is a time for kindness and generosity. But with the guidance of some wise ghosts (Goofy and Jiminy Cricket) and a bunch of newfound friends, Scrooge learns to embrace the spirit of the season. Share this wonderful holiday treat with the whole family!
Bonus features include:
Mickey’s Christmas Carol,
Yodelberg, (brand new!)
Pluto’s Christmas Tree,
Art of Skiing,
Corn Chips, & The Hockey Champ.

When my child was little, I found the original VHS and had the ability to find a player for the VHS version. This is NOT anything close to the VHS version. The original songs have all been taken out and most have been redone and what’s not been redone has been re-mastered (though re-mastering implies this is good quality on DVD which it’s better than VHS but not so great compared with other DVD content)
This DVD set has some positives but the negatives are that most of the imaging is not so great and the new parts don’t work in the context of the older content. SAD too because this used to keep my kid very very busy for a long time. (So much so that I started hiding it right before Christmas Eve because I had heard the VHS version so much). What I had expected to hear and see just wasn’t as great as the hype.
Wish I could be more positive about it. The reviews on Amazon.com can underscore what I have said. It is better than the VHS version -but is that the comparison you really want to hear about?

Available on Blu-ray Combo Pack (BD+DVD+eCopy), DVD (+ eCopy), or Digitall at Amazon.com , Wal-Mart, K-mart, most mass stores and electronics stores.

Disney/Pixar Monster’s University: Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Copy: Collector’s Edition

monsterU

Loved this movie. Ok so I am a kid at heart. I like watching these things because it’s a giggle, fun and also allows me not to think about much other than the action. It’s cute and perfectly suited for a family and kids of almost any age. Some teens might find this boring but if they watch enough, they learn about some stunts they could pull- if they are coordinated enough. The animation is top-notch. The theme of seeing them going through Monster’s University brings new life to see these character as young people. Definitely a prequel but it’s still well worth the money particularly if you have a young family It makes a GREAT gift and would be ideal if you are getting really tired of kids asking what “what can we do?” on Thanksgiving Day or fabulous Black Friday sonata of dads heading to buy or rent this flick. Just buy it! It’s worth the money!

Disney Pixar celebrates homecoming with the release of “Monsters University” on Digital HD and Digital HD 3D on October 8, 2013, followed by the 4-Disc Ultimate Collector’s Edition Blu-ray 3D Combo Pack,
3-Disc Collector’s Edition Blu-ray Combo Pack,
3-Disc Blu-ray Combo Pack,
DVD and On-Demand on October 29, 2013.
Lots of bonus features: go behind the scenes on Pixar’s real life campus with multiple featurettes;
view “Deleted Scenes” and
new to the featurette content is the animated short “The Blue Umbrella”.

The key reason to by Monsters University is that Pixar does indeed some kind of moral lesson in it which jibes quite nicely with the Disney since they do that too.
Here’s one reviewer’s comments
You could even make the argument that the lessons in MU are more bold than any previous Pixar film. Which leads to why MU is ultimately about failure and why that’s okay.

Obviously, as this is a movie about college, there are your typical and inherent lessons for the characters (finding your place, growing up, building friendships), but the most important and surprising lesson is watching Mike Wazowski fail. This lesson is a particularly unique and groundbreaking approach for the age groups in Generation Y (Millennial) and Z. Generational scholar and author Ron Alsop argued that the Millennial generation is a group of “trophy kids”, who were given rewards just for participating. I’m a Millennial and like many of my friends growing up, we all received gold stars on our homework, ribbons for events, etc. constantly rewarding us for just doing our job. You could also argue we’ve been constantly told that we could achieve anything we want if we just worked hard. We were told there was no way we could fail. This is the definitive issue that MU tackles head-on.

For movies to watch for in 2014, here’s a super-cool bit on the new MUPPET Movie!!

This is a GREAT bit on Oscar the Grouch (yes it’s Sesame Street!) and a cat. I love it. It’s so perfect for my cat-owning friends.

Disclosure: I received review copies of the DVDS and also a Light Up Links kit. (I am the happiest kid on my block!) My position is that I review things and I tell you my opinion on the products. That’s what I have done here.
