I love cocktails. I think it’s fun to try out new spirits and new twists on classic cocktails as well as more light-hearted contemporary ones. What’s not to love? I like gathering my friends together and spending time with them while I mix it up. Some friends know I love to do this and bring me a bottle or two to play with and see what comes out. Often if I find recipes I like online, I want to try them at home and see what else I can do to make them my version of something tasty. Think of it as giving it a bit of a twist or spice… according to me!

2 Dashes of Peychaud Bitter’s

Muddle 1 sugar cube in cocktail shaker. Add VEEV, lemon juice and ice to cocktail shaker and shake.
Strain contents into champagne flute and top with champagne.

Stevie’s Twist
This could be really fun if you tried lime juice, pomegranate juice or tart cherry juice!
Bubbles and Balloons!
INGREDIENTS
1 ½ oz VEEV
½ Raspberry Puree
Top with Bubbly
Garnish: Skewered Raspberry and Mint
Glass type: Champagne Flute or Coupe
PREPARATION
Add VEEV and raspberry puree to cocktail shaker with ice and shake. Strain contents into champagne flute and top with champagne. Garnish with a skewered raspberry and mint leaf.
Stevie’s Twist
To change this up, try pureeing fresh or frozen fruit like strawberries, cuties (mandarin oranges), blueberries, peaches, pink or red grapefruit.
The Honey Comb
INGREDIENTS
2 oz VEEV Spirit
¾ oz Bourbon
Stevie’s Twist
(Try Jack Daniels Honey or the new Jack Daniels holiday special, “Winter Jack”/Tennessee Cider [they are the same thing] SUPER-Yummy!! Or if you want to go in a different direction, try cognac for a bit more depth in this spirit)
½ oz Lemonade
1/4 oz Honey (or Agave)
Dash of Orange Bitters
Garnish: Lemon Peel
Glass type: Coupe
PREPARATION
Add all ingredients to cocktail shaker and shake.
Strain contents into chilled coupe or martini glass. Garnish with a lemon peel.
While you might not have Veev, don’t try to substitute something else for it, if you want to know how this really tastes. There are enough different recipes here and on the VEEV recipe page
Have a great time test-driving these cocktails. If you try one or more recipes, post to me on twitter.com/lastory or comment on this post!
