Hit Surfside Bar + Grill in Venice Beach for Great Food, Killer Brews and Fabulous Brunch!

Surfside Bar + Grill has opened it’s doors in the former Danny’s Deli location in Venice Beach. A full renovation began in November 2016 and took several months as Jade Lee and Leni Koen from Samesun spearheaded design and brand creation. The project was completed with the assistance of local design firm Electric Bowery and Savory Hospitality. Surfside’s founding Chef Jesse Gutierrez has created a diverse selection of menu items to entice beachside guests from California comfort food, to a delicious mix of LA-Korean inspired dishes, sustainable seafood and vegan and vegetarian options.

Surfside is your place to kick back and be comfortable: a haven from the lovable madness that is Venice Beach. Step off the busy boardwalk and relax into a long lazy afternoon with locals. All you need to do is take a moment to sit down & unwind!

You’ll find us at the Venice Breakwater on the corner of Windward & Speedway. If you know the hood, you’ll find us! All your friends are here, we’ve got the beer & great food – join us for dinner and we’ll even do the dishes!

 

Gutierrez has already added his personal stamp to the menu and is most excited about
K-Town Bulgogi Burger:
Featuring 1/2 pound of certified Angus beef with house-made caramelized kimchi, fried egg and a savory Korean bulgogi spread all served on a buttery brioche bun.

“If you look at my menu, you would think my favorite ingredient to work with is Bulgogi, but my favorite is the egg. You have to respect it or you will totally mess it up. And when it’s on a Bulgogi Burger — it’s the best!” he says.

The menu indeed reflects Gutierrez’s wide-ranging culinary experiences and interests:
Korean Fries, with bulgogi steak, sriracha mayo, caramelized kimchi, onions, cilantro, sesame seeds and cheese.
–A perfect dish for sharing are the Surfside Nachos topped with tortilla chips and doused in nacho cheese, beans, pico de gallo, sour cream, guacamole and jalapenos topped with your choice of chicken, short rib or tofu.
Seafood Linguini, tossed with shrimp, calamari, cod and seasonal vegetables, in a lemon herb-butter sauce,
Lobster Roll with fresh cold water Canadian lobster in a seasoned mayo served with Old Bay seasoned fries.
Surfside Fish Tacos are full of flavor with house-made corn tortillas with grilled fish topped with roasted jalapeno slaw, pico de gallo, and chipotle crema.
Venice Beach Burger with house-made tempeh, lentil, walnut Vegan patty, heirloom tomato, bibb lettuce, vegan mayo on a vegan bun. (Vegetarian)

The menu is quite substantial with lots of options including salads, sides, and great desserts (Try the Half Baked!! Weekends are made special with Gutierrez’s special twist on brunch. You will not be hungry for HOURS if you have brunch here. The great part is that brunch is availale daily!

The beer and wine program at Surfside Venice Bar + Grill includes local favorites like, House Beer, Strand Brewing and fresh, local ingredients within each cocktail. The Windward Ave is refreshing and features gin, spiced ginger and pear syrup, lemon juice, soda water and candied ginger, and the Sun Tan features tequila, lime juice, pink grapefruit soda and fresh squeezed lime. While the Lifeguard is served with Jim Beam, lemon juice and ginger beer, muddled with fresh raspberries, blueberries and mint leaves.

  1. The menu is very cute. I must try to knock off the Korean fries…they sound scrumptious !! Brunch in Venice at the beach has to be cool, no matter what you eat. I also want to make the Lifeguard at home…great recipe.
