Not Just for Labor Day or Summer: Sun Protection Is Critical All Year! Check Out NO-AD Infographic!

Are you using sunscreens every day? REALLY? EVERY. SINGLE. DAY?!!?

Sun protection is critical for everyone– from little kids to the “big kids” AKA Adults! I remember my derm telling me that I needed to wear sunblock even when driving my car because he was seeing a lot of sun damage on people on the left side of their bodies: arms, hands, shoulders, and faces. (If you are in the UK or in another country where you drive on the right, it would be your right side.) I know he was right then and all of the dermatologists I have seen and/or interviewed, all said the same thing. Sun protection is “all day, every day, 365 days”.
Makes sense, right?

Thanks to NO-AD for this great infographic and the information it provides and the comments from Dr. Kirkpatrick!

Orlando-based NO-AD, the sunscreen that costs less per ounce because “no advertising” means the brand doesn’t buy expensive TV, print or radio ads, passing the savings on to consumers. That means you get the same quality of sun protection from them that you get from other higher priced products from other brands.
NO-AD is one of the brands I use!  I love the higher SPF versions and often find they are sold in stores I visit. I use them every day, even on my hands when I am out walking my dog because UV rays don’t stop after sunset.

Key Notes:

Apply enough sunscreen when you get ready to go outside.  Here are guidelines that I use – courtesy of  http://www.skinacea.com/faq/sunscreen/s04-how-much-sunscreen.html

  • Face: 1/4 teaspoon of sunscreen
  • Neck (front and back)1/4 teaspoon of sunscreen
  • Arms: 1/2 teaspoon of sunscreen per arm
  • Legs: 1 teaspoon of sunscreen per leg
  • Chest: 1 teaspoon of sunscreen
  • Back: 1 teaspoon of sunscreen

You will need more for ears, hands, tops of feet and other points like tops of shoulders. And sun protection should be applied approximately every hour. Don’t skimp! Sun protection is cheap compared to dealing with skin cancer!!
