Celebrity Stylist Peter Butler Gives Katherine Langford a Gorgeous ‘Do’ for “Love, Simon” NYC Premiere!

I love to see unique hairstyles on celebrities. It’s a great inspiration that gives me some ideas on how to do my own hair. I loved the style on Katherine Langford and I feel it would definitely work for summer too!

Inspiration:

“Katherine has a strong eye and soft lip with a black dress that’s covered in sequins. Even though the ponytail frames her face, it doesn’t make her look severe. It has a softening effect. It’s feminine but not cute. She looked sexy — the ponytail has texture but isn’t messy. The clean sides and graphicness of the shape make it all work.”

How To:
1)

“I always start everybody with Leonor Greyl Condition Naturelle. Katherine had wet hair when she sat down in my chair. Condition Naturelle neutralizes the hair and rebalances porosity. If you get your hair blown out a lot, sometimes the hair is finer in some places or dryer in others. This fills in those dry, fine bits. It makes them more substantial and protects them from the heat.”

2)

“I used Leonor Greyl Mousse au Lotus Volumatrice before blow drying with a round brush. Katherine’s hair is quite long — almost to her waist and almost one length.

3)

I sprayed her hair with Leonor Greyl Voluforme for hold and twisted it around a 1.5” curling iron.”

4)

“To break apart the curls I brushed out the set with a wide tooth comb. That turned the curls into waves. The key to a great ponytail is figuring out the right position on the head, which is usually at the line right above the top of the ear.
For Katherine, since this was a red carpet, the ponytail couldn’t be too floppy either. I also couldn’t have her ponytail sliding out throughout the night. So I used bungees — with the clips on the end — because they stay in place.
I always use a bit of Eclat Naturel for finishing cream plus a little hairspray for hold, and she was out the door!”

Here’s a close-up of the finished style!
