National Coffee Day Is Rolling in Fast: 9/29/18. Check Out These Cool Cocktails!

While I have featured National Coffee Day a couple of times before ( Article 1 here. Article 2 here .) and I really liked the recipes I featured.  Now I have a final batch of cocktails for this special day, brought to you by Mr. Black Coffee Liqueur, a new entry in the spirits  and liqueur category.

 

 

What is Mr. Black Coffee Liqueur?

Mr Black was created five years ago in Australia over a chance encounter between Philip Moore, one of Australia’s foremost distillers, and Tom Baker, coffee-nerd and designer. Together, they founded Mr Black Roasters & Distillers in August 2013 with a simple mission: take Australia’s coffee culture into the night.

At the core and essence of Mr Black lies a coffee roastery and a craft distillery. Each single origin coffee is roasted separately by Mr Black’s Head Roaster, Dr. Detlef Mohr, to create the signature smooth Mr Black flavor profile.

Made 300 bottles at a time by hand, Mr Black embraces the “low and slow” cold brew process. With half the sugar and ten times the coffee of ‘old-world’ liqueurs, Mr Black is a cold brew liquor for coffee purists.

 

 

Here are recipes provided to me. Please note that often the ingredients are provided with measurements and that is because that’s how I received the recipes. Also, the method or actual steps to making each cocktail weren’t provided either so I created a general “rule of thumb” way to create each cocktail.  While it might not be the perfect way of creating that specific cocktail, the social user for each venue has been provided so that you could ask each respective venue how to mix the cocktail properly!

 

ACE HOTEL

HAPA HAOLE
Ingredients:
Mr. Black Coffee Liqueur,
Plantation Pineapple Rum
Aylesbury Vodka,

cinnamon
banana cream
GARNISH:
nutmeg and pineapple leaves

Method
Add Rum and Vodka to shaker and shake well
Add in Mr. Black and stir
Add in cinnamon and banana cream and stir again
Pour into glass and garnish!

ICARUS
Ingredients:
1 OZ Mr. Black
.75OZ Michter’s Bourbon
.5OZ Campari
.25 OZ Lost Spirits Abomination
.25 OZ Demarara Syrup ,
.25 OZ Aquafaba
1 Dash Whisky Bitters
Grapefruit flame

Method
Pour all ingredients into shaker and blend well.
Strain and pour into a glass
Dip grapefruit peel into a bourbon, light it and drop it gently onto the drink.

FEET DON’T FAIL ME NOW

Ingredients:
3/4 OZ Mr. Black
3/4OZ Espresso
3/4OZ Mezcal
3/4OZ Armaro Ciaciaro
Tablespoon of Orange Marmalade or jam

Method
Pour all liquid ingredients into a shaker and blend well
Rim the glass of your choice with the orange marmalade or jam
Strain all ingredients into the glass

COLD BREW NEGRONI
Ingredients:
.5OZ Mr. Black
1.5 OZ Gords Gin
.75OZ Cocchi Vermouth di Tonino
.75OZ Cappelletti

Method

Pour all ingredients into a shaker,
Shake for 30 seconds
Strain into a glass and stir

RUSSIAN SPY

Ingredients:
1 OZ. Mr. Black
2 OZ. Russian Vodka
1 bar spoon Brioette Banana Liqueur
.75 OZ fresh cream
4 dashes of clove bitters.
Nocino Liqueur,

Method
Shake Mr. Black and your choice of Russian Vodka together in shaker with ice
Add in banana liqueur and shake again.
Strain into a glass
Add in fresh cream and clove bitters and stir!
Top with Nocino Liqueur.

EXPRESS YOURSELF

Ingredients:
1.5 OZ Vodka
1.5 OZ Espresso
.5 OZ Mr. Black Cold Brew Coffee Liqueur
.25 OZ Simple Syrup

Method

Pour vodka, simple syrup and expresso into a shaker and shake for 30 seconds
Pour into coupe glass.
Add in the Mr. Black as a float.

Ingredients:
Mr. Black
Tromba Reposado (tequila)
Canela (A bitters meets liqueur type of product)

Method
Pour all into a shaker with ice,
Shake for about 30 seconds,
Strain and pour into a glass

 

 

BLACKBIRD

Ingredients:
1 OZ Mr. Black
1.5 OZ Campari
1 OZ grapefruit juice
.5 OZ Tequila

Method:
Shake, double strain into a Collins glass
Add a splash of tonic and fill with ice.
Garnish with grapefruit twist.

 

This is an amazing array of cocktails. They sound absolutely yummy.  YOU need to try at least 3!!
