About the brand and the newest fragrance iteration!

Proenza Schouler, embodying the now

Our work in fashion is always about trying to capture a moment in time, something that speaks to whatever we are feeling for whatever reason at that moment, and something that says “now”. – Jack McCollough & Lazaro Hernandez

Two of the most celebrated young designers of the last decade, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler have been influential forces in shaping the new guard of American luxury fashion. Since the debut of their label in 2002 (the moniker ‘Proenza Schouler’ is a combination of their mothers’ maiden names), McCollough and Hernandez have defined a new take on modern femininity by embodying their generation’s singular, rule-breaking approach to clothing and image making.

In the Proenza Schouler playbook, risks are taken and boundaries are broken. Patterns culled from the natural world are hybridized and made anew through cutting-edge fabric technologies. Collaborations with the German contemporary art star Iza Genzken exist on
the same plane as envelope-pushing projects with the downtown filmmaker Harmony Korine.
Often set in off-the-beaten-path industrial spaces in New York and Paris or sterling exhibitions spaces such as the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Proenza Schouler runway reflects fearless, idiosyncratic women of all stripes.

The city renegade and the outdoor explorer. The provocateur and the

dreamer. The woman who finds ease in creativity, refinement in imperfection, and ‘nowness’ in nature.

The Proenza Schouler attitude about fashion is inseparable from their approach to fragrance. A modern reconnection to classicism and tradition enhanced through disruption and free expression.

Arizona Eau de Parfum, paving a new path in fragrance

In today’s world, this feeling of wanting to connect to something more real feels right to us. The sense of the outdoors, of unexplored nature, of freedom, of a kind of universal positive energy, is what excites us
– Jack McCollough & Lazaro Hernandez

Erasing the lines in the sand between tradition and innovation, and the corporeal and the terrestrial, McCollough and Hernandez created Arizona Eau de Parfum, an airy dreamlike fragrance inspired by the unspoiled vastness of the desert and the hypnotic allure of the American Southwest.

For Proenza Schouler, fragrance is a vehicle to discover the hidden beauty of the natural world. Amidst delicate nocturnal blooms of the Torch Cactus and the enveloping silence of Antelope Canyon at dusk, the gentle notes of Arizona Eau de Parfum blossom:
an unexpected crystalline, petally, and luminous cactus flower note with distinctive crispy and green inflections, textured with a creamy orris accord.

Arizona Eau de Parfum invites you to journey deep into undiscovered territories that are both raw and mysterious, awe-inspiring,
and fragile.

Elusive and rare, the blossom of the Torch Cactus blooms just once a year at most.
Its’ densely-layered, earthy floral scent has never before been experienced in a fragrance. Thanks to the groundbreaking Living™ technology – which enables one to reproduce the scent that flowers release during a unique moment – the essence of this delicate desert
flower is captured on the very day it blooms without causing harm to its environment. This harmony between cutting-edge technologies and the stillness of the desert landscape is the unforgettable essence of Arizona Eau de Parfum.

There is also a scientific explanation behind Arizona Eau de Parfum’s uplifting scent as the fragrance has been scientifically proven to boost positive energy. Based on a statistic sample of 29 women, a recent study by Galvanic Skin Response and other sophisticated
biofeedback systems – carried out by International Flavors and Fragrances with independent HCD Research – scientifically demonstrated the psycho-physiological measurements of feelings of happiness and joy increased significantly on around 76% on participants.
This laboratory discovery of “euphoric experiences” in a bottle suggests quantifiable peace of mind and renewal, like disconnecting from the white noise of the “every day” behind the walls of a luxury wellness retreat in the Sonoran desert. Lifting compositions from the angular, irregular rock formations found throughout the Sonoran Desert, the bottle is a piece of art in itself. The final shape, like a drop encapsulated into faceted angles of rocks, is a unique glass innovation allowing a disruptive asymmetry that echoes the fractal patterns found in nature

Capturing an iconic signature

The brand as a whole and Arizona Eau de Parfum speak the same language. The words used to describe them both are interchangeable and the woman is the same. She is perfectly undone and perfectly at ease with herself, reconnecting to things that truly matter. Curiosity is her driving force. – Jack McCollough & Lazaro Hernandez

The exclusive first collector’s edition of Arizona Eau de Parfum fuses the intoxicating spirit of the desert with the force of innovation. Having returned back to New York City from a series of trips where McCollough and Hernandez disconnected from modern life amidst the sun-drenched geometric landscapes of the Southwest, the pair were inspired to combine the exhilarating spirit of discovery with the beating pulse of their creative practice.

This new collector edition of Arizona Eau de Parfum features an original, custom-designed bottle and reimagined packaging featuring a signature vivid red and black tribal pattern seen on the model Vittoria Ceretti from their critically acclaimed Spring Summer 2017 show held at the Dia Art Foundation in New York’s Chelsea neighborhood. Further bridging the worlds of fragrance and fashion, Ceretti is also the face of the Arizona Eau de Parfum campaign shot
by Tyrone Lebon.

Speaking to the way Arizona Eau de Parfum encapsulates the thrill of personal exploration, the collector’s edition features the designers’ signatures on the bottle and its revamped packaging. Recalling plumes of color from the desert twilight, the asymmetrical strips of fiery red with pure sky black are an exercise in contrast between McCollough and Hernandez’s trademark hard-edged fashion aesthetic and the captivating flora from the fragrance’s delicate scent. The collector’s edition of Arizona Eau de Parfum is Proenza Schouler’s latest celebration of the sparks that exist between passion and escapism, wanderlust and
creativity, the here and now.

“The same words we use to describe our fashion brand can be applied to our fragrances,” McCollough and Hernandez said. “Words like polished imperfection, raw refinement, cultural nowness, progressive innovation and creative fearlessness can be used interchangeably between our brand and Arizona. The woman is also the same. She is intelligent and strong, of the world in which we live in, but completely individual.
