Happy July 4! Make the Holiday Super Special with Gin Xll’s “Martini Du Mistral” Cocktail!

YES, it’s almost July 4, but before you decide exactly what you are drinking, check out this amazing martini that features a new gin- Gin XII.

Gin XII is made by Distilleries et Domaines de Provence in France. This is a really unique gin and if you love gin,  I suggest you read on to get the details on this very fine gin!

About Gin XII

Gin XII is craft distilled from twelve plants and spices in a plate-column still, creating a subtle range of aromas. Gin XII owes its name to the twelve plants and spices that go into its creation. It is characterized by fresh, minty, floral, slightly spicy notes and a beautifully lingering finish. A dry gin with a rich, authentic taste, born of a long period of research and reflection. Gin XII takes full advantage of its Haute-Provence terroir and its subtle blend of herbs such as thyme, rosemary, basil, eucalyptus, sweet almond and mint, which join forces with small juniper berries to express the aromatic intensity of a stroll through the garrigue!

Gin XII is a 100% distilled dry gin made with five different distillates:
–    One gin distillate with eight plants and spices (juniper berries, coriander seeds, sweet almond, thyme, grains of paradise, angelica root, Florence iris root, cardamom seeds). These plants and spices are initially macerated in alcohol then distilled together.
–    Four distillates from single plants (basil, rosemary, eucalyptus, mint) are distilled individually after each being macerated in alcohol.
All of this distillation is performed in a copper plate column still that enables the development of greater balance and finesse in the flavors, and thus the extraction of the aromas that give Gin XII its particular style.

Try Gin XII in a cocktail! While the cocktail colors are not red, white, and blue, the Martini Du Mistral will be a tasty cocktail that really ramps up the festivities on this fourth of July!

Martini Du Mistral Recipe

Ingredients:

20 cl of Gin XII

2.5 cl of Vermouth de Forcalquier (for a pronounced Provençal character)

or 1.75 cl of Vermouth de Forcalquier (for a drier martini)

Method (for 2 glasses):

– Refrigerate glasses in the freezer (or fill them with crushed ice until very cold).

– In a shaker, pour 8 x 2.5 cl measures of Gin XII and between 0.5 and 1 2.5 cl measure of Vermouth,

– Add 10 ice cubes to the shaker and shake or stir vigorously.

– Cut two lemon zests and place each slice in the bottom of your chilled Martini glasses.

– For an even more Provençal flavor, you can also add a sprig of rosemary!

– Filter, serve and enjoy your Mistral Martini!

The Mistral Martini sounds absolutely delish! While I haven’t tried GinXII yet, I can’t wait to see what it tastes like when I can find a bottle of it here in California.  I love a cocktail that’s made with gin. Gin makes a cocktail recipe more sophisticated because it’s not very sweet, but more on the herbal level of things.  This new gin-Gin XII – sounds like it’s a  big step up in gin brands!

You can learn more about Gin XII on this website: https://www.distilleries-provence.com/en/gin-xii-aux-12-plantes-et-epices.
This company has many, many  brands of spirits and wines that they create. If you happen to find Gin XII, I highly recommend that you buy a bottle and put together the Mistral Martini cocktail!
