In 1994, Maison Margiela created ‘Replica’, a collection of clothing and accessories inspired by garments collected from around the world and chosen
for the universality and timelessness of their style and history. Each garment is reproduced identically and is marked with a plain white label indicating its provenance, period, and style description.

Inspired by the collection of clothing and accessories, the ‘Replica’ fragrances capture memories that we all share. Every scent instantly evokes images, impressions, and positive emotions that echo the collective unconscious as well as our own personal history. Maison Margiela
continues to evolve these olfactive, collective memories with a new fragrance: ‘On A Date’. Like earlier ‘Replica’ fragrances, including
‘Lazy Sunday Morning’, ‘By the Fireplace’, and ‘Beach Walk’, this new scent is inspired by a familiar recollection – in this case, it reflects
the positive feelings and excitement one feels on a date.

About Maison Margiela

Maison Margiela is a French fashion House founded in Paris in 1988 by Belgian designer Martin Margiela. Both masculine and feminine,
oftentimes fusing the two genders, the House takes a cerebral approach to deconstruct, reinvent , and redefining men’s and
womenswear silhouettes. Since 2012, Maison Margiela has held the official ‘Haute Couture’ appellation from the Féderation
Française de la Couture
for its collection entitled ‘Artisanal’.
In 2014, British couturier John Galliano was appointed as the House’s Creative Director.

In the golden hour light of a late summer evening, the scent of ripe grapes and fresh roses fills the air. ‘On A Date’ heightens the
senses with memories of a perfect rendezvous overlooking the magnificent vineyards of Provence. The latest Maison Margiela
‘Replica’ fragrance is the result of a creative exploration of the world of perfume and wine.
A collaboration between master perfumer, Carlos Benaim, and master sommelier, Manuel Peyrondet.

Luminous and sensual, ‘On A Date’ captures the sparkling and addictive fruitiness of ripe grapes bathed in warm sunshine
and the delicate yet decisive character of wild roses.

 

“First, I sought the best way to express the aromas of red wine,” says Master Perfumer Carlos Benaim
. “I translated its finesse and freshness by using Crème de Cassis, Davana and then I also explored the aromas of rosé wine by
expressing its energy and roundness. I translated the sensations of these two wines into a totally new accord to liberate one
intense emotion. One of my other wishes was to integrate the rose which is the flower of love par excellence. It offers delicate
and fresh floral notes with fruity inflections that recreate the sweet feelings brought by seduction”.

“For me, perfumes are all about making you feel good,” says Master Sommelier Manuel Peyrondet. His collaborative
work with Carlos Benaim was “to recreate the particular scents of rosé and red wine from Provence. ‘On A Date’ has a strong
personality. It was inspired by the exceptional terroir of Provence, which offers a contrast of unique aromas”.

Damascena Rose Petal essence and Bergamot essence recreate the sweet feelings brought by seduction as the reminiscence of
a successful date Blackcurrant Liquor Accord and Patchouli essence give the fragrance a sensual and magnetic woody signature
while evoking the soil of the Provence vineyards at the early stage of the night.
