WHAT:
Actor and restaurateur, Danny Trejo and his restaurant, Trejo’s Tacos, are teaming up with LA’s very own, Chef Dafne Mejia of Hell’s Kitchen,
Season 21.
Danny Trejo was recently a judge on Season 21, alongside Chef Gordon Ramsey, in the “Everyone’s Taco’ing About It” episode where the
competing chefs went head to head in creating an elevated taco.
Chef Dafne took the win that evening for her team and to celebrate
Trejo’s Tacos will offer the taco for a limited time:
January 26 through February 26!
Guests can enjoy Chef Dafne’s winning “HELLrizo” taco made with chorizo,
Al Pastor sauce and topped with a slice of grilled pineapple, and a slice of avocado on a green corn tortilla at the Trejo’s Tacos Hollywood Cantina location only.
“Winning the Hell’s Kitchen Taco Challenge with one of my idols,
Danny Trejo, judging was such an honor, especially when he said it reminded him of his mother’s cooking! I couldn’t be prouder to have represented for Latinas not just in Los Angeles, but those tuning in
that night,” said Chef Dafne Mejia. “I am excited to work with
Trejo’s Tacos to bring my winning “HELLrizo” taco to their menu
throughout February and I can’t wait to celebrate with Danny on
January 26!”
To kick off this winning collaboration, a celebration will be held
at Trejo’s Tacos Hollywood Cantina on January 26, 6 pm-8 pm
with Danny Trejo himself and Chef Dafne Mejia of Hell’s Kitchen,
Season 21 where the duo will meet with guests and enjoy a fun-filled
an evening of tacos (including Dafne’s “HELLrizo” taco) and live music.

About Chef Dafne Mejia
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Chef Dafne Mejia started her culinary
journey at The Art Institute of California – San Francisco where she
graduated with an Associate’s Degree of Science in the Culinary Arts.
During her education, Mejia started apprenticing under a Certified
Master Chef, learning the art of cooking at the highest level for four years.
Moving back to Los Angeles in 2015, Mejia began cooking as a private
chef for rapper Aubrey ‘Drake’ Graham, a high-profile assignment that catapulted her to Sous Chef at a fine-dining Vietnamese restaurant.
In 2019, Mejia became Executive Sous Chef at Spring Palace, a private membership club in Beverly Hills.
Following the pandemic, Mejia shifted her focus and returned to being
a private chef, where she was able to indulge in newfound creativity,
playing around with the culinary arts on her social media – creating captivating stories of her pasta-making endeavors. It was through this
that she began to gain some notoriety, and towards the end of 2021,
Dafne was invited to partake in the world-renowned cooking show,
Hell’s Kitchen.
