Christmas– LA Style.

Now this may seem superfluous but bear with me.. it’s not at all.
Given that Hanukkah starts tomorrow and tonight is Christmas Eve and all the other holidays surrounding this time of year like Kwanzaa, now is the time to get together with family–whether strictly those you are related to or the family you have created from friends  and spend the time in good cheer.

It doesn’t matter if you are here in LA or not. The LA Story isn’t so much about LA the city, but about LA the lifestyle and state of mind. Sometimes it is that state of mind that makes the snow and freezing conditions you might live in tolerable

While we here in LA tend to have almost no seasons, we sometimes miss the point of the season because we don’t have snow and the changes that come with the seasons. It’s hard when you have 70-80 weather and see surfers out on the water and realize it’s the middle of December.

For most of here in So. Calif, we don’t shop the Golden Triangle. We don’t shop Rodeo Drive or even Beverly Center or Melrose all the time. While we slog through massive traffic, we also get to live in great weather but realize that it’s the distances of the area that keep us apart from friends and those we love.  Here in So. Cal, we spend time getting to see everyone and schlepping along the freeways can be a task at the holidays when a normal 45 minute commute doubles and more than doubles during a holiday season.

So here’s my LA Story wish for you.. that you might enjoy better memories of holidays this year than last, but not quite as good as next year’s holiday season. That you are able to share time, stories, music, food and drink and celebrate the beauty of  friendship and family. It’s not about being dressed in the latest of fashions or having the fanciest car or biggest job. It’s about being generous with your time and feelings– while being sensitive of the feelings of others.  The generousity of spirit is what makes the holidays special. It’s the giving to others without the concern of getting something in return. It’s enjoying and appreciating the understanding and rapport achieved with a new person in your life and certainly showing the love and appreciation of those already in  your life

I wish you a home full of laughter, joy, giggles and fun. That you might receive everything that you need and that those around you get all that they need too.  May the music, light, laughter and love of the season be bright in your home and heart ..

Happy Holidays, Happy Hanukkah, Merry Christmas and everything else

See you at the counter of life!

Stevie
