The GAP ROCK COLOR Summer 06 Bus Tour hit the New Jersey Shore on Thursday for a day at the beach– perfect timing for the surfers who were in the water so that they could snag new board shorts and flip flops.

Eric — our GAP ROCK COLOR TOUR DIRECTOR — is on podcast once again to share with us what’s happening with the tour– on it’s last couple days in  the area.

Here’s a round-up — in Eric’s inimitable style of verse– of the events in  on the RIGHT Coast (as opposed to the LEFT coast aka California).

Talk about a hello…

NY has greeted us with open arms.

..(and open skies)

JONES BEACH was our first stop.

Fresh air, blue skies, and a touch of Blondie to kick us off.

We were ready…a little too ready.

We were so happy to be there…we had set-up in the wrong place.

(when your hearts in the right place..there is no

wrong..right?)

unless you’ve got a heart of glass….hmmmm

Low & behold, after being kindly escorted by the park trooper, we hit the jackpot….smack dab in the middle of the main entrance.

We were the unofficial greeters for the evening.

Come one, come all.

Here comes the rain…again…

Too bad no ROCK COLOR umbrellas…we would have been heroes.

We battened down the hatches, pulled everyone close and decided one way or another, this party was going on.

Alas, Mother Nature hit all the right notes that night.

But we vowed to return.

And return we did….dry

Right place, right time..there would be no foolish games this night.

We were there to save a soul from a fashion crisis…and crisis there were.

SATURDAY@ JONES BEACH w/ Rob Thomas & Jewel was great fun.

Chilly fun.

Who knew a HOT summer could be so COLD & WINDY?

That’s why GOD or GAP created our cool summer hoodies.

We weren’t lonely no more…the bus was rock’in with all the rockers searching for their size.

We love an intermission…AND BAM…the night was done.

It was all so smooth.

…..we did it again.

PNC CENTER in Holmdel, New Jersey

Same tunes, different people…completely different vibe.

Surrounded by tailgaters and the most beautiful trees, we set out to share the love and the message.

The word spread quick.

"GAP was in the house…"

From across the hills and as far as lot 12A..(Siberia parking), the people came to dance, to shop, and to be beaded by our man DeMarkus. From 5 to 50, they all danced for beads.

It was a glory to behold.

If I was to have taken a picture from the top seat in the arena, you would have seen a sea of beads, bracelets, & buttons… all courtesy of the GAP.

It was a world of color united in music & smiles.

I’m glad we got to add our little part to the moment.

A moment that might last a lifetime…or at least the adventure.

Fore the adventure continued.

In the ‘Village of Fishkill’..otherwise known as the Village that GAP built.

I loved it. We all loved it.

We got to bring our love bus to the special people who helped make it possible.

The people who made sure the Bus had soul…product to share, sizes to wear.

We greeted them in the  early morning and the late afternoon so that all the people had a chance to be thanked and partake in the joy of the best darn bus in the world.

It’s always nice to let someone know you appreciate all that they do.

Thank you, Mitch & everyone up in Fishkill, we loved our visit.

We hope you had a rock’in good time.

Next stop…the busiest, most exciting day we’ve had yet.

Ladies and Gentleman, get ready for the word to be shouted across the airwaves and down the street.

THE GAP IS BACK…..LOUD….COOL…CLEAR…on the WB Morning Show.

Sean Krebs, you rocked it.

The sun rose as we popped open our doors on the front stoop of the station. With the speed of a race car driver..

(who was the segment in between ours)

we whipped up a brand new, funky & fashionable bus for the lovely tv viewer.

Out came the models looking  ever so cool, styled from head to toe in our latest & greatest.

But this was just a taste.

14TH & HUDSON

We rolled in and took over.

Down went the steps, up went the t’s, out came the dj booth, and the music began to spin.

Spin, spin, spin….spinning all day.

From DJ Ruckus to DJ Cassady, the music played, the street came alive, and ROCK COLOR was the center of attention on a street where attention is hard to come by BECAUSE EVERYONE IS SOOOO FABULOUS.

Paul Sevigny

(Let me just say…I am a nerd in this land of cool…but I’ll live)

(Stevie edit: This dude is NO nerd.. trust me on that one.)

The hipness factor grew as the buzz grew.

GAP.

GAP.

GAP.

T’s, tanks, polos, purses…flying out the door on the shoulders & bodies of cool.

Could it get any louder?

Could  the buzz get any buzz-i-er?

…huh?

YES!!!!

La LOHAN WAS COMING! La LOHAN WAS COMING!

Through the SEA OF PEOPLE, with the wave of cameras crashing into each other as if Brangelina had brought out baby Shiloh…She appeared…..IN A GAP WHITE HOODIE The throng pushed forward, all aching for a look…

..and then she began to play.

She spun her records, flicked her beats, and raised the roof off a cloudy night sky.

The clouds had held their hello, as did the New York Police Dept.

Kindly, they let the beat play out.

Again, a great big GAP thank you to Officer Duffy & everyone in the 6th Precinct. You are true gentlemen.

the Misshapes with Peaches

It was another moment of convergence…music, merriment, and fashion mayhem.

(because after Lady Lohan left that Women’s white hoodie flew out the door) And it was time for us to close our doors.

Until today.

We were back..with a little less music, but with the same amount of heart & soul.

The neighborhood embraced us and we hugged back.

(I would highly recommend the restaurant VENTO…the staff, the food, the view….thank you for making us feel at home)

It has been the biggest, the best, the greatest, the grooviest adventure yet…and we’re only just beginning.

Look out Hamptons…we’re a coming.

To all those who said hi…thank you.

To all those who said goodbye…we will miss you.

But remember, the color never fades in your heart.

Cheers, great day, Eric

Closing out this post for the GAP ROCK COLOR Tour, that thanks to Eric and his fab journals, the colors never will fade– nor the memories that were made on both sides of the country.
