Forget Reruns & Reality Shows. Check Out the New ONLINE TV Show– The Battery's Down!

I just got sent something kind of interesting about something new in the way of a series– like television but not because it’s on the web. It’s called The Battery’s Down

“The Battery’s Down,” a new online television series, will premiere this Friday, February 1 on YouTube featuring a slew of Broadway guest stars. Filmed in a style similar to “Curb Your Enthusiasm” or “The Office,” “The Battery’s Down” chronicles the life of young actor, Jake Wilson, in New York City. Each twenty-minute, two-part episode will premiere at 12:01AM the first of every month and will also include fellow performers portraying themselves.
With a theme song composed by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (Edges, Johnny and the Sprites), every episode will be written and directed by Wilson and will also feature a new song by a talented musical theatre writer or team, including David Kirshenbaum (Vanities, Party Come Here), Josh Salzman and Ryan Cunningham (I Love You Because), and Ryan Scott Oliver and Kirsten A. Guenther (Alive at Ten).
The series premiere, entitled “The Big Apple” will guest star Michael Arden (Bare, The Times They Are A-Changin’), Jonathan Groff (Spring Awakening), Andrew Keenan-Bolger (Seussical, …Spelling Bee), David Hull (Wicked), Michael Kadin Craig (Altar Boyz), Hélene Yorke (Walmartopia, High School Musical), Jennifer Cody (Urinetown, The Pajama Game revival) as Nancy MaGuire, Cortney Wolfson (Les Miserables), Ryan Watkinson (Xanadu, Movin’ Out ), Dani Spieler, Nina Sturtz, and Adam Wachter will join Pasek, Paul, and Wilson as series regulars. The end of the episode will feature the song “This is Your Life” with music by Ryan Scott Oliver and lyrics by Oliver and Kirsten A. Guenther.
Nikole Vallins and Rachel Hoffman of Binder and Telsey + Co. Casting, appear as themselves in Part 1. Their current projects include: Dancing In The Dark, An American In Paris, Vanities, Mask, Grease, A Chorus Line, Gypsy, The Lion King, Dancebeat, The Thirty Nine Steps, Curvy Widow, Happy Days, White Christmas, Is He Dead? Some previous Broadway credits include::Sweet Charity, Movin’ Out, The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Urinetown, 42nd Street, Seussical, Iceman Cometh, You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, Chicago, plus the films Hairspray (NY casting), Dreamgirls and Chicago.
