Best of Holiday Part III

Part III of Best of Holiday 2005!

One of the great things about holday time is that you are hitting a lot of festivities: concerts, parties, dinners, cocktails or events .. it doesn’t matter. It’s an excuse/reason to get dressed up or be a bit bolder in cosmetics and fragrance.

I am a huge mascara fan. I love to use mascara and I am known to use one to define, one to curl and one to create a top-coat of color! Here are my favorites

Just tried today  but it’s going to be a staple, Stila’s Lash Boost and Fiber Optics Mascara.  Long sexy full lashes– in a blink!  www.stilacosmetics.com

Also on my "hit parade" are several items from Vincent Longo and Bourjois.

Longo’s  The Curl Mascara  in  Shirazmatazz both curls, lifts and colors with a gorgeous burgundy shade.  www.beauty.com

Bourjois has several mascaras I love including  Talons Aiguilles- a lifting and lengthening mascara that gives your lashes a boost and then layer a coat of their  Vibrant Duochrome Lash Color which comes in extremely vibrant shades and is perfect for those days when you want all eyes to be on yours! www.sephora.com

Other cool things that are fun to wear are lipcolors– lipsticks, sheers, lip glosses.. I am the total beauty junkie.

I lately have been loving some  Julie Hewett lip colors- called  The Lip Noir Collection.  These pigmented lip colors have camellia oil in them so they soothe and hydrate while they slip nicely across your lips in a range of astounding colors–there’s at least one for you. My fave is the  Nude Noir  because it’s a better than nude color. It’s a more pinked out and has a nice sheen that while it’s a more satin color, could be worn with or without a gloss equally well. I love it because it’s ideal for those smokey eye nights when you need a neutral yet defined mouth!

While we are on the subject of Julie Hewett, she has some other "multi-purpose" products that  I use a lot too– and you will too if you give them a shot.  Shimmy is a silicone based product that works triple duty– cheeks, lips and eyes equally well. This slick cream goes on sheer with a slightly sparkly effect and will tone down lips, turn up the watts on eyes and spotlight the cheekbones. It comes in 3 different shades:  Pinkie, Goldie  and  Cleo  ( a gorgeous bronze!) . It’s hard to say which one I use more but I use Cleo a lot for shadow, a bit of contouring, greating an emphasis on cheekbones and also layering with the other colors. PLUS these colors grab powder shadows and hold onto them beautifully.

Her  HUE eye colors do double duty as liners and eye colors in a way allows me to play with the color by layering, and softening out the color, making the smokey eye effect softer yet still a distinct effect. The colors are fab too: Violette, Newsprint Bleu, Rue  Burgundy and  Lilies in the Snow — a luscious quartet of colors that you can create several dynamic and dramatic looks whether very intensely colored or soft and sheer. http://www.juliehewett.net

Ok..now let’s get back down to the business of lips!

Stila’s got one of the newest glosses: The IT Gloss and it’s fun, fab and for you! It’s a twinkly, sparkly colored gloss and comes in a great range of hues. http://. www.gloss.com

Also  other cool glosses and lip colors out there to test drive include   Skin Alison Raffaele’s Soft Gloss a soothing, hydrating volumizing (!!!)  lip gloss in a clutch of colors that is sure to include one of your faves. My suggestion: go with  Sleek  or  Chic!  http://www.sephora.com

( Newsflash.. make sure you check out Raffaele’s  Light Shadow tubes–creamy irridescent and matte color shadows in the most amazing shades. You can wear them sheer or layered for more drama. I love Daybreak and Late Afternoon!)

Fun for out on the town– or at anytime, you won’t be at a loss for a gloss, mirror or the time, if you wear  Glamorist Watches.  These  extremely functional watches  do much more than tell time, they give you the time to touch up your lips almost on the run.The watch face lifts up and there is a double pan of glosses along with a mirror and brush. Super easy, super sly.  Check out the 7/30/2005 blog for more info!

Other glosses I would recommend:  Lip Fusion  (clear or that bright sheer pink),

NARS Daredevil ( the PERFECT berry stain) ( Daredevil is on the right! Left is Pampas)

Valerie Beverly Hills  Baby Lip Shine

Ok.. that’s all for today. I think you have had enough face painting and shopping!

Maybe if I get really lucky, I can hit the high notes on fragrances.. or not.. all depends

See you at the beauty counter!
