Get the low-down on the the Hotel Cafe Tour with Joshua Radin who is in Cincinnati going to play tonight! Musicians aren’t always born playing instruments or singing–sometimes it’s just an evolution. Radin’s story is pretty much a global experience (in the literal sense) to wind up where he is today
Talk about being on the move! The Hotel Cafe Tour has been doing a full court press to get cross country. Wednesday they were in Cincinnati and today –well check out the Hotel Cafe Tour website for the dates near you. Boston and NYC are definitely on their list and you don’t want to miss this stellar group anchored by Joshua Radin and Cary Brothers.
On this podcast, Joshua and I talked about his teaching of painting and art to inner city children as well as a huge "left turn" heading to South Africa with a bud. Multi-faceted doesn’t begin to describe him– sometimes you just have to listen to the music and realize this guy used to be a screenwriter for five years. He has the gift for words but turning from "broad comedy" to sensitive, very interior themes indicates a depth there that isn’t always perceptable and even harder when you are touring on a bus full of musical people.
This musically eclectic man has some funny stories to share about his singing and then he "flips" me over to The Weepies’ Deb– who I know from an event for Mandy Moore’s clothing line, Mblem. A shout out to you Deb and Steve!! Hope you’re doing well. Just as I was "handed" back to Joshua, the bus pulls up to a radio station and the gang piles out for a group interview at the local big radio show. (note RAINMAN reference in the podcast)
Check out the latest on the tour at Joshua Radin’s Myspace page.
Take a good listen to the podcast and then listen to Star Mile from Joshua Radin. This CD has managed to get a few tracks burned into my brain and the best is yet to come.
STAR MILE from Joshua Radin
See ya next week when I talk to Joshua when he is in Maryland!!
