Prom Dreams –like Fairytales– Can Come True.. Courtesy of Bronx Community College students and NYPIRG/Bronx! Blink NY PR and LA STORY Reaches to the "Right Coast" To Give Support!

Blink New York Public Relations works with Bronx  Community College and the New York Public Interest Research Group (NYPIRG) to help make prom dreams come true.

It’s almost high school prom season, but sadly not everyone will have a prom dress. One group of student volunteers with the New York Public Interest Research Group at Bronx Community College is tackling that problem head-on through a prom dress drive for high school girls in the Bronx.  Blink New York, Inc. is passionately involved in this cause and are reaching out to everyone in the beauty and fashion industry — even the blogosphere– for assistance.

How can you help?

Your donations can be any gently worn items that girls may need for prom, including:

– dresses

– handbags

– shoes

– fashion jewelry (suitable for prom)

– unused makeup

Whether the items have sentimental value, no longer your style or just taking up space in your closet, you can do something with them and actually give some young woman the experience of a night she will never forget courtesy of your generosity.

Where do I send my donated items?

Send them to Blink New York’s offices at the address below.  We are coordinating with the NYPIRG Chapter at Bronx Community College so they can pick up all donated items at one location.  We will also be happy to arrange for a pick up– in the New York area ONLY– at your office or home over the next two weeks.

Students volunteering with the New York Public Interest Research Group (NYPIRG) Chapter at Bronx Community College are collecting new and gently-used prom dresses for less-fortunate girls of the Bronx as part of their ongoing Hunger and Homeless Campaign.
The drive will provide the young women of University Heights high school located on the Bronx Community College campus, with the opportunity to attend their Senior Prom wearing a donated dress. Bronx Community College is located at West 181st Street & University Avenue.
NYPIRG members recognize the special memories created at Prom and the importance of ending the year with a celebration — a party everyone should be able to attend without the burden of a costly price tag. Who said fairy tales can’t come true?
The New York Public Interest Research Group (NYPIRG) is the state’s largest student-directed, not-for-profit group that focuses on consumer, environmental and government reform. NYPIRG chapters are located on 21 college campuses across the state where full-time staff along with a large core of student volunteers work on projects that both support NYPIRG’s statewide agenda as well as numerous local issues.
Students in the BCC NYPIRG chapter have been working hard to promote the event through class talks, the campus newsletter and numerous hand-made signs posted on virtually every available bulletin board on campus. In order to maximize results, they also posted an ad on the popular Web site,
The response has been overwhelming. In just a couple of weeks, the chapter has collected 12 prom dresses and several phone calls from interested donors from Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, New Jersey , and Westchester .
Students will continue to collect donations of new and gently-used dresses, shoes and handbags until the end of April.
On May 10th, several young women will not only make a glowing entrance into their senior prom, but they will also make a lasting statement- dreams can come true when people show they care.
