You have all the glosses, lip colors, mascaras and blushes *any* girl could ever want, but your look isn’t quite right. Hmmm. We all know what’s wrong– it’s the foundation! It’s not quite a perfect match and when you are custom blending every day, it’s hard to get a consistent color every single day . Really, do you ever write down the exact recipe? No– neither did I!

How do you do it? What’s it like? What do they do?
You pop into a chair, the make-up artist goes to work identifying the closest color match in the R/0, Y/O, B/R, R families and then tweaks it to get the formula identical to your skin. Add in a little “candleglow” for that luminous look, perhaps a bit of bronzer ot make you look warmer and more sunlit and then adds in the different moisturizers or mattifiers that’s specific to YOUR skin– that you want. You are there every step of the way.
It’s super luxurious and it does take time but you wind up with almost a year’s worth of foundation that matches you –dead-on– every day and lasts all day without degenerating into another color or texture.
Once your foundation is done, the concealer whips together in nothing flat because it’s just denser, more pigmented color. The powder– as seen in the video that I took when I was custom-blended (*it’s hard to do the foundation when they are swiping color on your face every so often) and it’s just fun to watch. Part chef, part artist, part magician, they add similar luminous ingredients to the color to give you that perfect velvety flawless face that lasts all day.
The loose powder and compact are done at the same time from the same exact formula that they have created.
Typically it takes about 30 minutes, my foundation was recreated (eyeballing my skintone) at Bloomingdales on 57th & Lexington by the counter manager and she did it in less than 20 minutes. She even taught me tips to be able to skip concealer on most days. (wow!).
