From Michael David Winery, comes Seven Deadly Zins.. and it’s perfection — or as perfect as one can get if you are going to be indulging in zin-ning!!
Given the nature of the holidays, maybe the choice of the Seven Deadly Zins might not seem to be the right choice for the season but truly it’s the perfect red for those who want red wine — regardless of the dish OR if they are eating heavier meat dishes for the holidays. “>
According to the brand
Seven of Lodi’s best growers gave their souls and the firstfruits of each of their old vine vineyards to contribute to the layered complexity of this fanciful blend. Soft, supple pepper and licorice-clove notes merge into a sinful marriage of deep, brambly blackberries and lustful cherries. The finish is clean on the palate with hints of rich vanilla, cocoa, and mild tannins. The Michael David winery describes it as
vibrant, sweet bouquet of raspberry jam, molasses and cinnamon toast evoke the senses of carefree youthful nights. Excellent oak integration provides silken tannins and spice to pair with Lodi’s unrestricted wildberry fruit.
Honestly, I have had 2 bottles of this and have gone to restaurants where it is on the wine list and it’s *always* in hot demand/low supply. It’s one of those *must try* wines– it’s got a complexity that’s interesting without being overwhelming. It’s multi-faceted/dimensional presentation in notes/flavors makes it a great wine to pair with almost anything.
According to the Bevmo.com site, it won a Silver Medal at the 2007 California State Fair Wine Competition for the 2005 vintage.
That means this wine is a real winner.
