Given that the Golden Globes didn’t happen, and it’s not likely the Oscars will either, there’s not a lot of “red carpet” fashion review opportunities. However– there have been a few events that I have found-attended- gotten photos of for a review by noted stylist and color consultant Michaela Jedinak
Every week, Michaela and I will review some celebrity photos for the “fashion awards” — those who did it right — and those who missed the point.
Here’s the first installment of what we hope will be a regular feature– and this is all from Golden Globes week: Art of Elysium gala and also the Jimmy Choo store party!
Please note the commentary is from Michaela Jedinak, a respected stylist based in the UK!!
Ali Larter
Colour: Good- she can pull it off because she wears the colour away from the face.
Shape: Not good at all. Very good example of the importance of the right proportions. The low cut makes appear her head too big in comparison to the rest of the body. Therefore it is not as well very flattering for her breast but above all her legs are too short for such a style. The Separation (tight fit around her bump) needs to sit evenly between the top half and lower half of the body. Further the flower is too big for her petite silhouette; plus sits at the wrong place- should be higher placed, and last not least draws the wrong attention to this misshaped outfit for her.
Style: Unfortunately the wrong shape of the dress and not well picked bag (colour & style so wrong) makes it all appear tacky. Also, if you are not sweet sixteen or younger and it is not your wedding you shouldn’t dress completely in white.
Overall Rating: **( highest score is 5) (that’s 2 stars for Ali Larter)

Joy Bryant
Colour: Great- very flattering for her skin tone
Shape: Beautiful- very well chosen- very difficult dress to pull off- it works for her in every way
Style: Nice accessories- well chosen in silver because they give the outfit a lift and sparkle and also they are not overpowering the dress.
Overall Rating:***** Stars!! (that’s FIVE stars)
Tune in for the next review – should be tomorrow!
