Spring has sprung and there’s a ton of new beauty products out there. What’s the look for the season? Yes– I know you have tons of makeup in your kit, but are you wearing all of it? (nope!)
Spring 2008 has a new twist to it and who better to turn to than a celebrity make-up artist like Michal Cohen from www.kickstartbeauty.com
LA-Story asked Michal for some tips, tricks and ideas for spring 2008 beauty products and she gave us serious 411!! It’s fabulous because she went from uptown stores to easy, breezy drugstore lines to find you the different looks to suit every budget.
Hey there Makeup Mavens!
I’ve spent weeks grazing the cosmetics counters of the most upscale department stores, and even your local CVS, to present you with my best picks for Spring Beauty 2008.
For Face:
With Spring on its way, don’t be afraid to switch up your foundation for a lighter formula or tinted moisturizer. By far, the Cle De Peau – Refining Fluid Foundation is my pick of the season. This moisturizing foundation, although pricey, has beautiful coverage and the finish is exquisite. Definitely a worthwhile investment!
Check out more budget-friendly foundations like Prescriptives Anywhere Multipurpose Makeup Stick or Korres Natural Products Foundation that will balance skin tone and still provide great coverage.
Cle De Peau Beaute – Refining Fluid Foundation, SPF 24 Price: $115
Prescriptives Anywear Multipurpose Makeup Stick, SPF15 Price: $35
Korres Natural Products Ginger & Vitamins Foundation, SPF10Price: $28
Highlighting Palette’s for Cheeks (and yes, even eyes!):
Palette’s are a must-have this season. These illuminating palettes will flatter the face with a simple sweep on the upper cheek bone and even on the upper brow bone.
Chantecaille Protected Paradise Compact Price: $90
(5% of proceeds goes directly to marine conservation!)
Dior Tender Blossom Floral Illuminating Powder for Face Price: $52
The Body Shop Blushing Daisies Compact Price: $19
.
For Lips:
Spring has no bounds this season! Feel free to go super subtle or strong with any of these shades.
Prescriptives Lip Strips in Techno Cool Price: $30
Cargo Blu_Ray Lip Gloss in Hyaluronic Acid Spheres Price: $29
Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Belle Du Jour Price: $23
(use this light nude beige color as a liner or lip color)
Revlon Mix & Mingle Lip Palette in Chatty Cherry Price: $6
For Eyes:
Why buy singles when cosmetics lines everywhere will offer you 4 complimentary shadows in one compact.
If you’re still hesitant to use an eye shadow palette, see below for my quick and easy steps.
1) Start by sweeping the most neutral shadow over the eyelid as a base.
2) Next, use the lightest shade, or highlighter, on the upper brow and inner corner of the eye to brighten up the eye.
3) The third shade, slightly brighter than the neutral, will be swept across the entire eyelid.
4) Finally, complete the look by using the darkest shade to line the top and bottom of the eye for a soft smokey look. Or wet the brush for a more defined look.
5) If you want to take the look from day-time to night time start by building the darkest color into the crease and use a blending brush to soften.
Cle De Peau Beaute Eye Color Quad Price: $75
L’Oreal Paris Wear Infinite Eyeshadow Quad Price: $7
Mascara:
Take your eyelashes to another level! And not just your basic blue, but purple and pink have popped up across many lines. Don’t worry, the color is far more noticeable in direct sunlight than it is indoors.
Givenchy Captiv’ Eyes Mascara in Purple Black Price: $25
Bourjois Volume Clubbing Mascara in Disco Blue Price: $17
Max Factor Vivid Impact Mascara in Blushing Blue Price: $9
Almay Intense I-Color Thickening Mascara in Purple Amethyst Price: $7
Best “Throw and Go” for Spring Beauty 2008:
In my opinion, you can never go wrong with a makeup palette. It’s got everything you need in a palm-sized compact. And don’t let that price intimidate you, the cost of buying all items individually is a deal-breaker.
Chanel Multi-Use Makeup Palette Price; $85
