Billy Piper (formerly of the BBC Dr. Who series) debuts tonight on Showtime with her Secret Diary of a Call Girl! based on the blog “Belle du Jour”
Synopsis of the series and the book (yes there is a book)
Belle couldn’t find a job after University. Her impressive degree was not paying her rent or buying her food. But after a fantastic threesome with a very rich couple that gave her a ton of money, Belle realized that she could earn more than anyone she knew–by becoming a call girl.
Belle became a twenty-something London working girl–and had the audacity to write about it–anonymously. The shockingly candid and explicit diary she put on the Internet became a UK sensation– scratch that– it’s now a global sensation.
Now, in BELLE DE JOUR, she shares her entire journey inside the world of high-priced escorts, including fascinating and explicit insights about her job and her clients, her various boyfriends, and a taboo lifestyle that has to be read to be believed. The witty observations, shocking revelations, and hilarious scenarios deliver like the very best fiction and makes for a titillating reading experience unlike any other.
That’s essentially what the tv series starring Billie Piper is about and how she juggles her personal life against her ‘professional’ life and how it works– or doesn’t work — for her.
Now the reviews in the LA Times aren’t very encouraging and one hopes that the series will actually tackle some interesting topics and peer into that secret world where the dichotomy of Hannah/Belle lives. After all, how does one juggle the secrets?
This is one show you rpobably won’t want to miss– at least till we see how the Belle
