Fourth of July is almost here — and that’s a holiday that you can celebrate with impunity relatively speaking– because usually there are not a lot of relatives involved. (I think sometimes that’s a *good* thing– to each his own of course).
While we think of BBQs and picnics and beaches and parties, these cocktails can be easily made ahead of time and transported in a jug, cooler or thermos. Take your pick– realize they will go fast. (Maybe bring reinforcements or prepare to retreat to the home for refills).
VeeV is an acai based (read Brazilian anti-oxidant super food berry) that has been turned into a carbon-neutral spirit.
Açaí contains 57% more antioxidants than pomegranates or blueberries, and 30 times more heart-healthy anthocyanins than red wine. The dark purple berry has catapulted from the Brazilian Rainforest to the martini glasses of the US’ most influential tastemakers. Its many devotees include Oprah (who recently named it her “#1 Superfood”), pro surfer Kelly Slater, Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bündchen, tennis star Andre Agassi, and Sting– notable among the many fans who aren’t as well-known but are scarfing up the spirit by the case.
VeeV fuses this exotic berry with 100% all-natural ingredients and a hand-crafted, column distilled base wheat spirit. Striking the perfect balance between Açaí, citrus flavors and alcohol, VeeV fulfills the consumer desires to enjoy tonight and yet still be pro-active in their activities for
In the spirit of Independence Day, we have a couple of drinks for you. One is courtesy of the VeeV mixologists, and one is courtesy of me noodling around with a friend on the phone on what to mix VeeV with to create one of these extraordinary cocktails for July Fourth!
Joie de VeeV is a great drink that makes a perfectly delightful cocktail for the holiday .
2oz VeeV
Dash of Agave Nectar
2 Strawberries
3 Basil Leaves
Muddle 2 strawberries & 3 basil leaves in a mixing glass.
Add 2oz of VeeV, a dash of agave nectar and ice in a cocktail shaker and shake.
Pour into a glass and top w/ club soda.
Sounds delish!!
Here’s another VeeV cocktail recipe of my own mixology and the conversation with a friend on the east coast.
Red, White & Blue Cocktail.
Tall glass or cocktail shaker–perferably a pitcher!
2 oz VeeV
1 oz PAMA Pomegranite Liquer
1 oz Pom Pomegranite Juice or Pom Pomegranite/Cherry Juice
Bottle Lychee nuts — 2 Lychee nuts reserved for garnish
Blueberries (reserved for garnish)
1 Tablesoon Lychee syrup (simple syrup flavored with Lychee)
A couple of lime wedges (*key limes if you can find them) – squeezed into the mix,
(if you have the Agave Nectar, add in a dash of that too)
Mix in a tall pitcher with ice or cocktail shaker and top with club soda
Garnish with a skewer of Lychee nut(s) and blueberries for a real red, white and blue fantasy.
I don’t have a photo of that particular drink because I don’t have the Veev — YET– but I know this will work and with a good shot of real limes, that will cut the sweetness of the Lychee syrup and make this a great summer drink. As soon as I get this made up, I will post a photo and any proportion or ingredient adjustments
Have a sparkler of a day!!
