Michal Cohen, (KickStart Beauty) is back giving us her superb expertise on how to get the perfect bridal beauty look (note that I said perfect– because her tips are flawless) !!
Now that we’ve covered skin and body prep, let get started with makeup.
Book a Makeup Artist!
Schedule a test run with a makeup artist of your choice and discuss the look you had in mind. Be sure to speak up about the look she’s given you. Remember, this is your wedding day, you should love how you look!
Saving up? Those brides on a budget may benefit booking an appointment with a makeup artist at your local counter. You’ll walk away with products for the big day and a step-by-step face chart as to how to achieve the look you always dreamed of. Plus I’ve got some great tips below for you makeup artists-in-training, so read on!
Prime to prevent shine!
Begin with your chosen skincare routine. Continue by adding primer to your T-zone, the most common place that shine will show.
Napoleon Perdis Auto-Pilot Pre-Foundation Primer
DIY! Just a quick reminder for bridal makeup, or any makeup for that matter, start with less and then add more. Once you begin, you can’t go back – so give yourself time and layer your makeup little by little.
Foundation!
This will be your essential tool in keeping your skin looking even all day long, so choose wisely! Take home samples from various counters to decide which formula is best for you.
Armani Shaping Cream Foundation
Concealer!
A total MUST! Apply just beneath the eyes, out to your upper cheekbones (just above the apples), down the ridge of the nose and even beneath your eyebrows as well as above, then blend, blend, blend. This application may seem excessive, but it will keep your face highlighted at all times.
Clinique All About Eyes Concealer
Time for some color!
Warm up your face with a natural apricot or rose (depending on your skin color) on the apples of the cheeks. Want to get the fullest potential out of your blush? Start off with a cream and lock in the color with a matching powder for a longer-lasting finish.
Nars Multiple Cream Color Stick (Go with Orgasm)
Powder Blush
Nars Powder in Angelika (cotton candy pink) or Amour (peachy)
Eyes!
Just as with the blush, start with a cream base or eye primer to even out the eye color. You may even use a foundation with some translucent powder as a base.
Mac Eye Primer
Eye makeup will complete your look, so be sure to practice as much as you can. Or get a helpful and handy friend to beautify your eyes for you. Not so skilled with fake lashes?
Apply first to prevent makeup smudges or smears, or better yet, give lash extensions a try (they can last for up to a month!)
Shu Uemura Soft Cross False Lashes
Don’t forget mascara — with or without false lashes– extra mascara is a must and make it waterproof!!
Chanel Inimitable Waterproof Mascara— your choice in Noir (black) or Bronze (deep glowing brown)
Lips!
I know I’m repeating myself here, but its all about long lasting color especially on your lips. Try out Clarins Le Rouge lipstick or Max Factor Lipfinity, all guaranteed to keep your color on all day. Also, be sure to line your lips so they look defined. Extra tip – line the outside of your lips with concealer to create a “border.” This will prevent the lip color from running to the outside edges of your lips.

Some Last Minute Tips! I just couldn’t complete this article without leaving you with my bridal beauty protocol.
• Select a spot checker to keep an eye on you should a beauty mishap occur. No bride wants to wince at that photo of her, her husband, and ew…that piece of spinach in her teeth.
• Try to schedule a test run with a professional makeup artist. Make sure she takes notes or fills out a face chart because no artist has the memory of an elephant. This is one day you don’t need unnecessary delays!
• Outdoor wedding…hello shvitz-ville! It might be a good idea to wear your hair up to keep you cool and prevent any unplanned shine on your perfect day.
• Always keep the essentials on-hand or hand off to your responsible spot checker: lipstick and lip liner, blush, powder, blotting linens, hairspray, visine, dental floss and tampons (because you just never know…).
• Ready to go? Spray some Evian mineral water on your makeup to set the entire look.
• Smile and stay calm. Remember, you look beautiful!
